Senior Engineer - CENG Steam Plant Systems Engineering (Water Treatment)

OverviewSteam Plant Systems Engineering is seeking a Water Treatment Engineer to support the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of steam generation and distribution systems. The role requires strong technical expertise in utility/industrial boiler systems and water treatment processes, including Reverse Osmosis, Ultra-Filtration, Demineralization, and Wastewater Treatment. The ideal candidate demonstrates sound judgment, strong communication and leadership skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment. A Bachelors Degree in Engineering and experience with mechanical systems, instrumentation, and steam distribution is required.This position does not provide employment pursuant to the terms of a STEM OPT Training Plan.ResponsibilitiesCore ResponsibilitiesPerform System Condition Assessments to identify and document system or component deficiencies, review equipment operation, and generate and drive corrective actions.Review and maintain System Descriptions, P&IDs and other design basis documentation.Perform root cause analysis of component failures and forced outage.Provide engineering support to Steam Stations and other organizations within Con Edison.Participate in project planning, outages and construction processes.Generate or review acceptance test plans and oversee or observe testing/commissioning.Interface with and track activities of equipment and service providers, both inside and outside the Company.Generate detailed reports and presentations to inform and guide Central Engineering capital planning and all levels of management.Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.QualificationsRequired Education/ExperienceBachelor's Degree in Engineering and 8 years of full-time work experience at an Engineer level. Experience with conventional utility boilers and chemical treatment systems such as Reverse Osmosis, Ultra-Filtration, Wastewater Treatment, and Demineralization is essential. orMaster's Degree in Engineering and 6 years of full-time work experience at an Engineer level. Experience with conventional utility boilers and chemical treatment systems such as Reverse Osmosis, Ultra-Filtration, Wastewater Treatment, and Demineralization is essential.Preferred Education/ExperienceBachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering and 8 years of full-time work experience at an Engineer level. Experience with conventional utility boilers and chemical treatment systems such as Reverse Osmosis, Ultra-Filtration, Wastewater Treatment, and Demineralization is essential.Relevant Work Experience Working experience with Mechanical systems (i.e. pumps, compressors and associated instrumentation necessary to monitor equipment status) is required. Possess strong technical competence, be well organized, and detail oriented is required. Knowledge of State and Federal regulations affecting steam plant operations and knowledge of industry codes and standards (i.e. ASME Boiler / Pressure Vessel code and B31.1, NBIC, NFPA 85, etc.) and process safety measures is required. Experience working with Water Treatment Systems is required.
