Section 508 Technical Support
We are seeking an experienced, professional resource for DoW Section 508 Technical Support to provide analytical and programmatic support to ensure the accessibility of DoW CIO information to individuals with disabilities and apply Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, known as DoW CIO Section 508. You will serve as a subject matter expert to support the provisioning of DoW CIO-wide guidance, evaluation, and increase awareness for DoW CIO Section 508 responsibilities and help DoW CIO incorporate accessibility into its culture as an inherent step in content creation. A successful candidate will be a proven performer and self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of the team.
Primary Responsibilities:
* Train the DoW CIO workforce in Section 508 requirements.
* Recommend considerations to be incorporated into the planning and formulation of Section 508 policy.
* Provide expert-level Section 508 compliance evaluation and remediation of DoW CIO information technology resources, including electronic content in various forms.
* Provide support to DoW CIO Section 508 oversight and reporting processes.
Required Skills:
* Excellent analytical and follow-up skills.
* Exceptional writing and verbal communication skills.
* Proficiency in accessible documents created using the MS Office suite, especially with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
* Expertise in the use of Adobe Acrobat for the creation and remediation of PDFs.
* Solid skills in presentation and the development of presentation materials.
* Ability to multitask and execute directives effectively and with little supervision.
Basic Qualifications:
* Requires a BA or BS degree and over 10 years of prior relevant experience. Additional years of experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.
* 0+ years of relevant federal, operations, and business experience.
* Knowledge of Section 508 standards, WCAG 2.0 guidelines, and related accessibility regulations.
* Understanding of commonly used assistive technologies.
* Expertise in electronic document accessibility practices.
* Proficiency in both manual and automated accessibility testing methods and tools for documents and web (e.g., ANDI, MS Accessibility Insights, Color Contrast Analyzer, CommonLook PDF, DevTools).
* Proficiency in using Office 365 applications and a deep understanding of formatting and the use of built-in tools when authoring source documents.
* Experience with interacting with Government officials and/or senior military personnel.
* Experience formulating policy, guidelines, and training materials.
* Solid knowledge of SharePoint, Teams, or similar collaboration tools.
* Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.
* Highly reliable and dependable.
* Team player with a positive and professional demeanor, strong customer service awareness, and excellent organizational skills.
* Active DoW Secret clearance, candidates without the clearance will not be considered.
Pay: $140,000.00 - $160,000.00 per year
