Motion Graphics Designer
This is a full time position that provides a salary commensurate with experience and outstanding benefits in a truth and grace filled work environment. This role is responsible for the creative direction, design, and execution of all LED screen content throughout the building — including worship environments such as Cornerstone — to ensure alignment with the overall communications strategy, brand standards, and seasonal design themes.QualificationsThis position requires creative ownership, systems thinking, and the ability to design motion environments that support live production while maintaining brand cohesion across all channels. We are looking for a designer who understands scale — large-format screens, immersive environments, and live production. The position requires a storyteller who can translate theological and messaging themes into visual language while balancing creativity with technical precision. The Motion Graphics Designer should be a self-starter who takes ownership and initiative to bring to life the vision set by Communications and Worship leaders, and works well as a collaborative teammate within feedback-driven environments.The Motion Graphics Designer will report to the Director of Communications and work closely with the Art Director, Lead Videographer, and Communications team to translate ministry priorities and sermon direction into compelling, immersive visual experiences that enhance worship and engagement at scale. This position will collaborate directly with ministry leaders to understand the vision and direction for sermons and other ministry collateral.Campus: MockingbirdWorking Hours: Full-time position working at least 36 hours per week; Anticipated Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m. (includes an unpaid 30-minute lunch break); Friday, 8:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m.; evenings and weekends as needed. During certain times of the year, additional hours and days may be necessary to meet the job’s demands. All church staff are expected to support and serve during religious holidays and worship services, including Christmas Eve and Easter.Job Responsibilities & DutiesLED & Live Environment Content and ExecutionOwn the creative development and execution of all LED screen content across campusDesign immersive motion environments for worship services, including CornerstoneEnsure all screen content aligns with the overall communications strategy and visual identityDevelop scalable motion systems and templates for recurring ministry needsOptimize content for LED wall specifications, aspect ratios, playback systems, and live production environmentsCreative DevelopmentCollaborate with the Art Director to concept and develop sermon series visual packagesCreate bumpers, motion backgrounds, title graphics, lower thirds, transitions, and environmental visuals Support multi-channel campaign rollouts (in-service screens, digital, web, social)Ensure visual cohesion between weekend worship environments and churchwide communicationsCollaborationPartner closely with the Art Director to align motion content with design priorities and brandingWork cross-functionally with Worship, Production, and Ministry teams to bring concepts to lifeContribute to creative brainstorming and campaign development conversationsProvide visual expertise in planning meetings related to stage design and environmentProduction & ExecutionBuild and maintain organized motion graphic libraries and template systemsPrepare final files for weekend services and special events, and meeting deadlines for delivery to the Production teamManage timelines and ensure timely, accurate project deliveryStay current on emerging motion trends, tools, and technologiesNote: job duties may change at any time without advance notice.Education & Desired SkillsBachelor’s degree in Motion Design, GFX/Graphic Design (multimedia), Media Production, or related field5+ years of professional motion design experienceExperience designing for digital canvases, live environments, broadcast, church, or large-scale events strongly preferredPortfolio demonstrating advanced motion systems, environmental design, and brand integration is required; Candidate’s portfolio should also demonstrate experience designing graphics for ultra wide large format screens.Photography and videography experienceStrong creative instincts with attention to detailAbility to manage multiple projects and tight deadlinesHigh level of accountability and follow-throughStrong communication and collaboration skillsWillingness to work evenings/weekends during peak ministry seasonsAlignment with the mission and values of HPUMCRequired Software ExperienceExpert-level proficiency in Adobe After EffectsStrong working knowledge of Premiere Pro, Illustrator, and PhotoshopAdvanced understanding of typography, composition, and brand systemsExperience designing for large-format LED screensExperience with Videri Screens a plusUnderstanding of video codecs, export workflows, and playback optimizationCinema 4D, Blender, or other 3D softwareProPresenter or similar live presentation softwareResolume, Notch, or other media server softwareColor grading knowledgePhysical DemandsSitting, standing, walking, seeing, hearing, speaking, lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds, and fine motor skills.Other QualificationsMust be a committed Christian with a church home, comfortable working in a United Methodist Church, and willing to spend occasional Sundays onsite to understand HPUMC firsthand.
