Overview Job Description - Lead SAP Data Engineer (HYBRID OR REMOTE) (26000066)Equitable is looking for a Lead SAP Data Engineer to oversee data integration activities within our general ledger, financial products subledger, and peripheral systems. You'll join a technology group that's tightly coupled with our finance team to automate business processes and unlock capacity for enhanced analytics and new ideas. This position offers a flexible work schedule: it may be fully remote/hybrid. If you are located near one of our offices (e.g., Charlotte, NC; Syracuse, NY), a hybrid schedule with 2–3 days on-site per week is expected to foster collaboration and connection.Location notes: Primary Location and Other Locations not specified beyond office examples above.ResponsibilitiesCollaborate with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into functional specifications.Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, processes, and data flows.Lead the design, development, and deployment of new applications and system enhancements in partnership with finance teams.Analyze existing financial processes to identify areas for improvement and recommend effective solutions.Facilitate system testing, including the creation of test plans and coordination of User Acceptance Testing (UAT).Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members.Offer ongoing support and troubleshooting for data-related issues across financial systems.Qualifications & SkillsAdvanced development experience with SAP Native HANAProficiency in Native HANA SQLExpertise in Smart Data Integration (SDI) – Flowgraphs & ProceduresExperience with Smart Data Access (SDA)Knowledge of Calculation Views and Analytic ViewsFunctional Knowledge & Reporting: Deep understanding of Financial Accounting for Life & Annuity InsurancesExperience in Ledger and Sub-Ledger Data AnalysisPreferred: Experience with SAP Analysis for Office, SAP BusinessObjects (BOBJ), and SAP Analytics Cloud (SAC)Familiarity with Financial Product Subledger (FPSL)Exposure to SAP BW for HANAWorking knowledge of ABAP and Core Data Services (CDS) ViewsAgile Methodologies: Knowledge of agile principles and ability to apply appropriate agile approachesApplication Design & Architecture: Ability to translate business requirements into technical designDocumentation Architecture & Design: Ability to build efficient documentation portfoliosSoftware Development: Ability to produce software products aligned with requirementsSystem & Technology Integration: Ability to integrate and communicate across applications and databasesTechnical Writing/Documentation: Ability to write technical documentsOther Details The base salary range for this position is $120,000 - $145,000. Actual base salaries vary based on skills, experience, and geographical location. In addition to base pay, Equitable provides compensation to reward performance with base salary increases, spot bonuses, and short-term incentive compensation opportunities.
