Software Engineer
Our client is an innovative technology company operating at the intersection of ocean intelligence, geospatial technology, cloud computing, and defense. The organization develops advanced software platforms and data solutions designed to transform complex maritime and geospatial information into actionable intelligence.We are seeking a versatile and hands-on Software Engineer to join a collaborative engineering team and contribute directly to the development, execution, and scaling of a mission-critical SaaS platform.This is an excellent opportunity for a strong technical practitioner who enjoys building scalable software, solving complex engineering challenges, and working across a modern technology stack. You will collaborate closely with engineering, product, operations, and defense stakeholders to deliver high-impact geospatial and maritime data solutions.Key Responsibilities:Build and maintain scalable software features across cloud, backend, frontend, database, and containerized environments.Develop and maintain Python microservices, Go applications, and modern React-based interfaces using TypeScript/JavaScript.Design and implement front-end applications, back-end microservices, and RESTful APIs using OpenAPI/Swagger standards.Develop and support data pipelines for large-scale geospatial and bathymetric data processing.Write clean, scalable, and maintainable code while following strong software engineering and testing practices.Develop and maintain automated tests using tools such as PyTest, Jest, and Playwright.Participate in CI/CD workflows and automated deployment pipelines across cloud and air-gapped environments.Support the technical design and execution of scalable SaaS solutions across public cloud, private cloud, and on-premises environments.Help optimize data ingestion and processing pipelines designed to scale from terabytes to petabytes.Contribute to security-first software development practices and compliance-focused engineering environments.Participate actively in peer code reviews and contribute to a culture of quality, shared ownership, and continuous improvement.Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders to solve complex technical problems and deliver software commitments on time.Clearly communicate technical concepts, architecture decisions, trade-offs, and project progress to a variety of stakeholders.Required Qualifications:CIBachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.3+ years of professional software engineering experience.Strong hands-on experience with Python, Go, and/or React using TypeScript/JavaScript.Experience working with relational databases, preferably PostgreSQL.Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.Understanding of microservices architecture and RESTful APIs.Experience or exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, GovCloud, or other secure cloud environments.Strong knowledge of software development, automated testing, and scalable application development.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering, product, operations, and defense-focused stakeholders.Ability and willingness to travel to secure locations as required.Preferred Qualifications:Experience developing or deploying applications within secure government, intelligence, or defense environments.Experience working within secure NGA Core environments.Experience with geospatial data pipelines, spatial data processing, or maritime data.Familiarity with technologies or platforms such as CesiumJS, GDAL, ESRI, CARIS, or EIVA.Experience packaging or deploying cloud-native applications into air-gapped or disconnected environments.Experience deploying software to physical hardware or virtual machine environments.Strong understanding of automated testing strategies, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing.Experience integrating automated testing and quality practices directly into CI/CD pipelines.Previous experience in SaaS, defense technology, geospatial technology, maritime technology, or another high-growth technical environment.Location: Remote, with the ability to travel to secure locations as neededEducation:Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
