Numerical Control Programmer Sr. - Level 3
Basic Qualifications High School diploma or higher (equivalent combination of experience and education acceptable). Minimum 5 years of hands on NC programming using Mastercam on 3 axis and 5 axis CNC equipment or equivalent experience on high precision water jet cutting systems. Proven ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, 3 D models, and GD&T requirements. Demonstrated experience in process improvement and problem solving in a high mix, complex part fabrication environment.Job DescriptionWhat You Will Be DoingYou will be the Senior NC Programmer for our machine shop. Our shop produces a broad range of critical aerospace components on 3 axis and 5 axis CNC machining centers as well as a state of the art water jet cutter. In this role you will independently develop and optimize NC programs, lead the capture of new business opportunities by leveraging our existing fabrication assets, and drive the addition of new capabilities that enhance the shop’s competitive edgeMission essential functions and other duties may be assigned as required.What You Will Be DoingResponsibilitiesAs the Senior NC Programmer – 3 Axis, 5 Axis & Water Jet, you will be responsible for creating and optimizing CNC programs for our aerospace part production fleet while driving new business capture and expanding shop capabilities. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Develop high performance NC programs for 3 axis, 5 axis CNC machining centers and a water jet cutter using engineering drawings, 3 D CAD models, and GD&T specifications. Evaluate part geometry to select the optimal machine, cutting strategy, tooling, and work holding approach that maximizes productivity and minimizes cycle time. Lead independent troubleshooting on the shop floor, providing accurate time estimates, corrective actions, and continuous improvement recommendations for new and existing parts. Partner with business development/engineering teams to translate customer requirements into manufacturable solutions, identifying opportunities to capture new business using existing assets. Create and maintain documentation (process sheets, setup instructions, program libraries) that supports repeatable, high quality production. Mentor junior programmers and serve as the technical point of contact for advanced machining capabilities, fostering a culture of innovation within the shop.Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee will be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as needed to perform job tasks. Ability to design and implement custom fixturing / work holding solutions that enhance productivity and part accuracy. Experience leading the development and implementation of new manufacturing processes, including the introduction of new capabilities that support business development initiatives. Strong communication skills to collaborate with engineering, production, and business development teams; capable of presenting technical concepts to non technical stakeholders. Demonstrated track record of identifying and pursuing new business opportunities by leveraging existing shop assets and capabilities.
