Estimating ManagerPosition OverviewWe are seeking an experienced Estimating Manager to lead our estimating department and oversee the production of large loss estimates for complex restoration and reconstruction projects. This leadership role requires advanced proficiency in Xactimate and Symbility, the ability to produce detailed estimates for high-value projects, and strong management skills to lead a team of three remote estimators. The ideal candidate will ensure estimate accuracy, maintain quality standards, and develop team capabilities while meeting tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Key ResponsibilitiesEstimating LeadershipWrite and review complex large loss estimates ($500K+) for residential and commercial projectsEnsure all estimates are accurate, complete, and properly documented with photos and diagramsDevelop and maintain estimating standards, templates, and best practicesReview and approve estimates prepared by team members before submissionHandle escalated estimating issues and provide technical expertise on challenging projectsStay current on pricing trends, material costs, and industry standardsMaintain relationships with insurance carriers, TPAs, and adjustersTeam ManagementSupervise and mentor a team of three remote estimatorsAssign estimates and balance workload across the team to meet deadlinesConduct regular one-on-one meetings and performance reviewsProvide ongoing training and development to improve team skillsMonitor team productivity, quality metrics, and turnaround timesFoster a collaborative team culture despite remote work environmentRecruit, hire, and onboard new estimators as needed Quality ControlReview estimates for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with carrier guidelinesEnsure proper use of Xactimate and Symbility including sketch accuracy and line item detailsIdentify and correct common errors or areas for improvementDevelop quality control checklists and processesMaintain estimate approval rate above company standardsConduct post-project reviews to refine estimating accuracy Process & TechnologyOptimize estimating workflows and improve efficiencyImplement and maintain Xactimate and Symbility best practicesCoordinate with project management team to ensure smooth handoffsMaintain organized estimate files and documentationUtilize CRM and project management software for estimate trackingGenerate reports on estimating department metrics and performance CollaborationWork closely with sales, mitigation, and reconstruction teamsParticipate in site visits for complex or large loss projectsAttend meetings with adjusters to negotiate and defend estimatesSupport business development efforts with estimating expertiseCommunicate estimate status and timelines to stakeholders Required Qualifications Minimum 5-7 years of experience writing restoration estimates using XactimateMinimum 2-3 years of supervisory or management experienceAdvanced proficiency in Xactimate (Level 2 or 3 certification preferred)Advanced proficiency in Symbility estimating softwareProven experience estimating large loss projects ($500K+)Strong knowledge of restoration and reconstruction processes including contents, mitigation, and rebuildExperience managing remote teams or virtual employeesExcellent attention to detail and quality focusStrong communication skills both written and verbalAbility to meet deadlines and manage competing prioritiesValid driver's license with clean driving recordPreferred Qualifications Xactimate Level 3 certificationIICRC certifications (WRT, ASD, or others)Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Business, or related fieldExperience with insurance claim processes and carrier-specific requirementsKnowledge of building codes and construction methodsExperience with PSA (Professional Service Automation) or CRM systemsBackground in commercial estimating or large commercial projectsFamiliarity with contents estimating and inventory processesTechnical Skills Expert-level Xactimate proficiency including sketching, macros, and complex pricingExpert-level Symbility proficiency for field documentation and estimatesProficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)Comfortable with cloud-based collaboration tools (Zoom, Teams, Slack, etc.)Ability to learn and adapt to new software platformsStrong technical aptitude for construction documentation softwareKey Competencies Strong leadership and people development skillsExcellent organizational and time management abilitiesAnalytical thinking and problem-solvingDetail-oriented with commitment to accuracyAbility to work independently and make sound decisionsProfessional demeanor with clients and insurance professionalsEffective communicator across all levels of organizationResults-driven with accountability for team performance
