OverviewRN, Transfer Center | System Administration OfficeBe the connection to care-coordinating seamless patient transfers across the UF Health system.Work Style: OnsiteLocation: Gainesville, FLFTE: Full-Time (.9 FTE)The UF Health Transfer and Patient Flow Center Registered Nurse coordinates all external and internal patient transfers across the UF Health system, ensuring seamless access to care across hospitals, campuses, and care settings.Provides "one-call" access for referring physicians and facilities, facilitating timely connections to the most appropriate UF Health facility, service line, and provider based on patient needs, system capacity, and clinical capabilities.Collaborates with clinical teams, physicians, and operational leaders to optimize patient flow, support capacity management, and ensure high-quality, patient-centered care coordination across the enterprise.ResponsibilitiesKey ResponsibilitiesApply clinical expertise to interpret diagnoses, assess patient acuity, and identify specialized care requirementsCoordinate transfers for specialty services including Trauma, STEMI, Stroke, Neurosciences, Burn, and other high-acuity programsEnsure patients are directed to the appropriate level of care across the systemSystem Collaboration & ComplianceServe as a system-wide clinical resource supporting patient flow, capacity management, and throughput optimizationEnsure compliance with all federal and state regulations, including EMTALA and Access to Care lawsCollaborate with physicians, nursing leadership, bed management teams, and operational leaders across all UF Health entitiesOperational ResponsibilitiesMaintain accurate and timely documentation and registration functionsCollect and manage demographic, financial, and clinical data to support care coordinationSupport operational decision-making and system-wide efficiency initiativesQualificationsMinimum Education & Experience RequirementsCurrent Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Florida requiredBachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferredBSN required within three (3) years of hire for nurses hired after April 30, 2014Professional nursing board certification in a specialty area preferredSpecialty certification required within two (2) years of hire for nurses hired after June 30, 2011Licensure/Certification/Registration* Licensed to practice professional nursing in the state of Florida
