Jr Data Engineer

Piper Companies is seeking a Jr. Data Engineer to oin a fast-paced Application Development and Data team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving business problems through a combination of SQL-based data engineering, automation development, and modern AI-assisted coding tools.The position offers a unique opportunity to work across enterprise data integration initiatives while also developing lightweight business applications and automation solutions using emerging AI-enabled development practices.You will split your time between two critical areas:Data Engineering (SQL‑based ingestion and transformation for our data warehouse)Rapid development of highly tailored automation tools using Vibe coding and AI‑assisted deliveryResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain SQL-based data ingestion, transformation, and optimization workflows supporting enterprise reporting and analytics initiativesAssist in building and supporting lightweight automation tools and business applications using AI-assisted development tools and rapid development practicesWrite and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, and transformation logic across relational database environmentsSupport ETL/data integration processes including data validation, cleansing, profiling, and source-to-target mappingDevelop Python-based scripts and automation processes for ingestion, reporting, and operational workflowsTroubleshoot and resolve data pipeline, SQL, and automation-related issuesWork closely with business analysts, project teams, and technical stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver scalable solutionsContribute to documentation, testing, and continuous process improvement initiativesParticipate in data modeling and enterprise data warehouse support activitiesRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or related field1–3 years of experience in data engineering, ETL development, database development, or automation engineeringStrong SQL skills with hands-on experience in SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, Snowflake, or similar relational databasesExperience with Python scripting for automation, data processing, or integration workflowsExposure to ETL/data integration concepts, APIs, flat files, and data transformation processesFamiliarity with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar rapid-development platformsUnderstanding of data warehousing concepts including normalization, dimensional modeling, and source-to-target mappingExperience with Git or version control toolsStrong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilitiesExcellent communication and collaboration skills in a fast-paced environmentPreferred QualificationsExposure to Snowflake or cloud-based data platformsFamiliarity with PowerShell or additional scripting languagesExperience with APIs/web services integrationExposure to Agile development methodologiesExperience building lightweight internal automation tools or workflow solutionsThis is a fully onsite opportunity offering strong career growth, hands-on technical experience, and exposure to modern data engineering and AI-assisted software delivery practices.COMPENSATION: Salary Range: $85,000 – $90,000 Onsite: Wayne, PA Comprehensive Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), PTO, Sick Leave as required by law, and HolidaysThis job opens for applications on 5/6/26 Applications will be accepted for at least 30 days from the posting date.Keywords: Senior ETL Developer, ETL, ELT, SQL, Data Engineering, Data Pipelines, Cloud Data, Snowflake, Azure Synapse, Redshift, DBT, Talend, Matillion, Informatica, Git, CI/CD, Data Modeling, Data Warehousing, Offshore Collaboration, Financial Services Data
