Malone Healthcare - Nursing is seeking a travel nurse RN ICU - Intensive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Hastings, Nebraska.Job Description & RequirementsSpecialty: ICU - Intensive Care UnitDiscipline: RNStart Date: 05/18/2026Duration: 13 weeks36 hours per weekShift: 12 hours, nightsEmployment Type: TravelDepartment: ICU * 50 mile radius for all travelers * - # Beds: 10 - private beds ICU and PCU are on the same floor. - Nurse : Patient Ratios: 1:2 sometimes 1:3 if low acuity. Depending on the census they staff for 15-18 patient on the entire floor (ICU,PCU). Will have at least 2 ICU RNs on shift. - Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS. - Common diagnoses/Types of patients: DKA, COVID, CHF, MVA, CVA, Sepsis, overdose, general medical. Very rarely have Peds on the floor- they do have Peds RNs that will take them. If Peds patient is vented they will use an ICU RN to run the vent. - Experience: 1 year experience as long as they have experience with vents. - Need to have experience with: vents, art lines, PICC lines, ports, chest tubes, drains, wounds, ostomies, OG, NG, PPE, identify arrhythmias, Cardioversions, TEEs, post heart cath patients, defibrillator, pain management. - Are RNs required to titrate drips?: Yes - Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Insulin, levo, cardizem, dopamine, dobutamine, TPA, heparin, Cardizem, amio, lasix, and sedation drips. - Charge Nurse/House Supervisor?: Charge nurse will take patients House supervisor available in house. - Are there nurse aids on this unit/Ratios: Yes- try to have staff 2 on the floor for 16 patients. - Hospitalist or Intensivist in house: Hospitalist in house 24/7. Intensivist available during day. - RT in ICU 24/7: No, but in house 24/7. - RT Equipment: Vents, CPAP, BiPAP. - Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit?: Tele techs on the unit- RNs are required to read their own strips. Philips tele monitors. - Shifts & Scheduling: 12 hours 7-7. No self scheduling- will work with travelers on block scheduling (accommodate as much as possible). Travelers will fill in gaps of first schedule. - Weekend Requirements: Generally every 3rd weekend but may be more based on need- they just ask for flexibility. - Holiday Requirements: Every 3rd holiday- please expect to work one of the winter holidays. - Is there a call or standby requirement?: No requirement. Will only give if they have requested to have their scheduled shift off or if they volunteer to cancel. - Floating Requirements: Will float to PCU and occasionally MedSurg. Will take a full patient assignment when floating MedSurg 1:5-6. - Scrub Color/Dress Code: Any solid color scrubs- no designs.
