Position DetailsPosition InformationPosition Title Makerspace Lab Aide - (2) Regular Part-Time Grant Funded PositionsDivision Advancement & Community Engagement(DIV)Department MakerspaceJob DescriptionThis position is responsible for supporting the daily operations of MADE@Westmoreland by ensuring the makerspace, equipment, tools, and materials are organized, functional, and ready for instructional, workforce, and community use. The Lab Aide provides hands-on support to instructors, learners, and staff by helping to create a safe, welcoming, and productive environment for creativity, fabrication, and technical skill development. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Maintain the makerspace, storage areas, and tool stations to ensure a clean, organized, and functional environment.Provide for the general cleanliness, organization, and security of equipment, tools, materials, and work areas.Ensure a safe environment for the conduct of hands-on learning, making, and technical skill development.Monitor daily makerspace operations to promote safe usage, ensure equipment is functioning properly, and promptly report any issues or concerns to the Director.Prepare equipment, materials, and tool stations for scheduled classes, workshops, camps, and workforce trainings based on the weekly schedule.Conduct basic equipment checks and notify the Director of any maintenance or repair needs.Provide technical and logistical assistance to instructors and staff concerning equipment setup, materials preparation, and workspace readiness.Assist the Director with the fabrication of college-assigned projects, including promotional items, signage, and donor recognition materials.Facilitate new member orientations, including introductions to makerspace policies, workflows, and safety expectations.Restock commonly used materials and maintain inventory of supplies.Assist participants as needed with locating tools, materials, and understanding basic makerspace procedures.Conduct equipment certifications.Support setup and teardown for special events, camps, workshops, and community programs hosted at MADE@Westmoreland.Maintain records of activities undertaken in support of classes and programs, including data entry and tracking of equipment use and condition. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Maintain up-to-date with professional credentials, best practices and current disciplines including continued educational requirements through certifications, seminars, training programs, etc.Maintain and develop work related knowledge, skills, and competencies related to the job through professional and cross training opportunities.Attend all required meetings and trainings.Perform additional grade level support duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE , SKILLS & ABILITIES Proficient verbal and written communication skills.Read, comprehend and follow instructions/work orders.Ability to consistently provide excellent customer service.Ability to organize and prioritize work assignments, including managing multiple projects/tasks concurrently and meet varied deadlines.Identify problems and assist with problem solving.Required Qualifications EDUCATION High school diploma or equivalent required. EXPERIENCE Prior work performance must have met or exceeded appropriate work standards.
