Dental Assistant

The Dental Assistant is responsible for providing outstanding patient care and assists the Dentist in providing dental treatment. Dental Assistants may perform a special group of duties called expanded functions, which can be performed independently by a Certified Dental Assistant. The Dental Assistant displays responsible behaviors, communicates effectively to others and functions as a member of dental team. The Dental Assistant must demonstrate competency in all skills related to the performance of patient care. EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS High school diploma or equivalent Completion of an accredited Dental Assisting Program Certification by the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB) as a Certified Dental Assistant in General Dentistry X-ray certification required OTHER REQUIREMENTS Reliable transportation Bilingual ability in English and Spanish, Portuguese or Creole speaking abilities preferred Cultural sensitivity necessary to work with a diverse patient and staff population Ability to work independently and collaboratively Knowledge of computers and medical records required Knowledge of Microsoft Suite preferred Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
