About Catlin Gabel SchoolAt Catlin Gabel School in Portland, Oregon, we believe athletics are an important part of a student’s growth, confidence, and sense of belonging. We are seeking an enthusiastic and student-centered Middle School Volleyball Coach to lead and support our volleyball program during the Fall 2026 season.This role is ideal for a coach who enjoys working with middle school student-athletes and is passionate about skill development, teamwork, and creating a positive athletic experience. We are looking for someone who can foster a supportive and inclusive environment while helping students build both volleyball fundamentals and character.As a member of the athletics community, you will collaborate closely with the Athletic Department and school staff to support a program that reflects the mission and values of the school.What You’ll DoPlan and lead engaging, developmentally appropriate volleyball practicesCoach and supervise student-athletes during games and team eventsFoster a positive team culture centered on sportsmanship, growth, inclusion, and teamworkSupport the skill development and confidence of middle school athletesCommunicate effectively with students, families, colleagues, and the athletic departmentAssist with equipment organization, uniform distribution, and program logisticsSupport the safe and effective use of athletic facilities and equipmentTravel to games and events throughout the Portland metro areaQualificationsPrevious volleyball coaching and/or competitive playing experience preferredExperience working with middle school-aged students strongly preferredStrong communication, leadership, and organizational skillsEnthusiasm for mentoring and supporting student-athletesCommitment to creating an inclusive and positive team environmentNFHS/OSAA coaching certifications (or ability to obtain upon hire)Current First Aid/CPR certification, or ability to obtain within 30 days of hireReliable transportation to attend practices and athletic events throughout the Portland metro areaAdditional InformationReview of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filledStipend is competitive and based on experienceThis is a seasonal position for Fall 2026If you are excited about helping young athletes grow both on and off the court, we encourage you to apply.
