They oversee a team of yard workers, delegate tasks, and coordinate with other departments to meet production goals.Responsibilities:Supervision: Manage and supervise a team of yard workers, including hiring, training, and performance evaluation.Inventory Management: Oversee the receiving, storage, and distribution of lumber and other building materials. Ensure accurate inventory records and coordinate with purchasing departments to maintain adequate stock levels.Workflow Coordination: Plan and coordinate daily yard activities, including loading and unloading trucks, organizing inventory, and preparing orders for delivery. Ensure efficient workflow to meet customer demands and deadlines.Safety Compliance: Enforce safety regulations and best practices to ensure a safe working environment for all yard workers. Conduct regular safety inspections and provide training on proper equipment operation and handling of materials.Equipment Maintenance: Coordinate maintenance and repairs for yard equipment, such as forklifts, conveyors, and saws. Schedule routine inspections and ensure equipment is in good working condition to prevent disruptions to operations.Customer Service: Interact with customers to fulfill orders, provide product information, and address any concerns or inquiries. Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction by providing prompt and courteous service.Quality Control: Monitor the quality of lumber and other materials to ensure they meet company standards and customer specifications. Implement quality control measures to minimize waste and defects.Administrative Tasks: Maintain records of yard activities, including inventory levels, orders processed, and equipment maintenance logs. Prepare reports for management on yard performance, productivity, and inventory status.Qualifications:Previous experience in a supervisory role, preferably in a lumber yard or construction-related industry.Knowledge of lumber grades, species, and sizes.Familiarity with safety regulations and procedures for handling lumber and operating yard equipment.Strong leadership and communication skills.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.Proficiency in basic computer skills, including inventory management software and Microsoft Office applications.Forklift certification may be required. Education:High school diploma or equivalent required.Additional education or training in business management, logistics, or a related field is a plus.Compensation
