CNC Machine Operator

The CNC Machine Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines to produce high-quality parts and components. The role involves setting up machines, monitoring operations, performing quality checks, and ensuring adherence to safety standards. Key Responsibilities: Machine Setup and Operation: Set up CNC machines by installing tools, fixtures, and materials according to technical specifications. Load materials into machines and secure them properly. Operate CNC machines, including press brake, turret punch, routers, mills and grinders, to produce parts based on blueprints and specifications. Input and adjust machine settings, including speed, feed rates, and tool changes. Quality Control: Inspect finished products using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, etc.) to ensure they meet quality standards and tolerances. Perform routine checks and adjustments to maintain accuracy and prevent defects. Document and report any deviations or quality issues to the supervisor. Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Conduct regular maintenance and cleaning of CNC machines to ensure proper functionality. Identify and troubleshoot machine malfunctions, including adjusting settings and performing minor repairs. Replace worn or broken tools and components as necessary. Safety and Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to maintain a safe working environment. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhere to safety regulations. Ensure compliance with company policies and industry standards. Documentation and Communication: Maintain accurate records of machine operations, production counts, and any adjustments made. Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other departments regarding machine performance and production issues. Report any equipment malfunctions or production problems promptly. Continuous Improvement: Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge. Provide feedback on process improvements and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives. Skills and Qualifications: Technical Skills: Proficiency in operating CNC machines and understanding technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications. Attention to Detail: High level of precision and attention to detail to ensure accurate and high-quality output. Problem-Solving: Strong troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve machine and production issues effectively. Mathematics: Basic understanding of mathematics, including measurements and calculations relevant to machining. Physical Stamina: Ability to handle physically demanding tasks, including lifting and moving materials, and standing for extended periods. Experience: Previous experience in CNC machine operation or a related manufacturing role is preferred. Education: High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or certification in CNC operation or machining is advantageous. Working Conditions: Environment: Typically works in a manufacturing or industrial setting, which may include exposure to noise, dust, and machinery. Hours: May involve shift work, including nights and weekends, depending on production requirements. Physical Requirements: Requires manual dexterity, strength, and the ability to lift and move materials as needed. This role is crucial for ensuring the efficient and accurate production of parts, contributing to the overall quality and success of manufacturing operations.
