An inclusive and diverse workforce strengthens us and allows for a collaborative environment to solve the challenges that face our industry today and in the future.JOB SUMMARYSupervisor, Dynamic Studies - Interconnection leads a team responsible for performing dynamic stability assessments related to generation and large load interconnections to the ERCOT system. This role oversees review of interconnection study reports, model quality testing, evaluation of dynamic performance of new and existing generation and load resources. The supervisor ensures the reliable integration of interconnections in compliance with NERC Reliability Standards, ERCOT Protocols, and Planning Guides, and coordinates with internal and external stakeholders to maintain consistent modeling practices and effective study methodologies.JOB DUTIESResponsible for hiring, coaching, training, and performance management of staff.Supervises, mentors, and develops a team of engineers performing transient dynamic stability studies, EMT studies, and model quality testing for generation and load interconnections.Plans and prioritizes work to meet interconnection project schedules and stakeholder commitments.Acts as the subject matter expert for the ERCOT Planning Guides and Protocols and the NERC Standards related to dynamic stability.Ensures technical accuracy, consistency, and quality across all dynamic studies, including leading and coordinating dynamic stability assessments and evaluating study reports in accordance with NERC standards and ERCOT Planning Guides.Evaluates model updates for existing and planned generation and loads, assesses proposed changes to inverter-based resources (IBRs), and provides support for event analysis.Performs sub-synchronous oscillation (SSO) vulnerability assessments for interconnection projects and conducts EMT studies using PSCAD as needed for interconnection-specific issues.Provides technical support to identify potential mitigation measures to address stability constraints.Provide support for dynamic case developments as neededServes as subject matter expert for NERC Reliability Standards, guidelines, and alerts related to dynamic stabilities of ERCOT grid.Supports NERC audits, data requests, and development of compliance evidence.Provides support for ad-hoc special studies and dynamic stability analyses as needed.Collaborates closely with other ERCOT teams, including Resource Integration, Load Interconnection, and Operations, to ensure consistency throughout the interconnection process.Provides technical analysis and reports in both written and oral formats to internal teams and stakeholders.Interfaces with Market Participants and Transmission Service Providers as required to support new or existing generation and load.Formulates and communicates recommendations for changes to ERCOT Protocols, Planning Guides, and Procedures, and provides technical support as needed.Supports and represents ERCOT on various ERCOT subcommittees, working groups, and task forces as needed.REQUIRED EXPERIENCEMinimum of 5 years' experience in planning or system operations in excess of degree requirements stated aboveStrong knowledge of power system dynamics and modeling, including inverter-based resources and Large Load, is requiredExperience with PSSE, TSAT, or PSCAD dynamic simulation preferredEDUCATIONBachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline (Required); advanced degree in engineering, business administration, or related discipline preferred.The foregoing description reflects the minimum qualifications and the essential functions of the position that must be performed proficiently with or without reasonable accommodation for individuals with disabilities.
