Structural Fabrication Welder

About the Role As a Structural Fabrication Welder, you will play a vital role in constructing high-quality steel components for complex infrastructure projects. You will utilize your expertise in FCAW and blueprint interpretation to ensure every weld meets rigorous industry standards while contributing to a culture of safety and precision. Responsibilities Interpret complex structural shop drawings, weld symbols, and piece marks to ensure accurate assembly and part orientation. Execute high-quality FCAW welds in 1G and 3G positions to meet structural integrity requirements. Perform precise layout, measurement, and marking using professional-grade tools to ensure fabrication accuracy. Operate overhead cranes, thermal cutting equipment, and grinders to facilitate efficient production flow. Conduct thorough self-inspections to verify material heat numbers and weld quality before final QC review. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including fabricators and CNC operators, to maintain a safe and organized shop environment. Proactively identify and communicate drawing or material discrepancies to leadership to minimize rework. Qualifications Required Skills 5+ years of professional experience in structural steel welding. Advanced proficiency in reading and interpreting structural blueprints and weld symbols. Demonstrated expertise in Flux-Cored Arc Welding (FCAW) and MIG welding techniques. Proven ability to operate overhead cranes and heavy shop machinery safely. Strong understanding of AISC and AWS quality management standards. Preferred Skills Experience with thermal cutting and back-gouging processes. Strong background in steel fabrication tolerances and production setups. Commitment to continuous improvement and high-precision craftsmanship.
