Quality Inspector

Position Summary We are seeking an experienced *Quality Inspector / CMM Programmer* to join our CNC machine shop. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in precision machining inspection, excellent knowledge of dimensional measurement, and hands-on experience *programming and operating CMM equipment*. This position requires someone with a *high level of attention to detail*, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to ensure that machined components consistently meet customer specifications, engineering drawings, and quality standards. The successful candidate will work closely with machinists, engineers, and management to identify and resolve quality issues while helping maintain a culture of precision and continuous improvement. Key Responsibilities · Perform detailed first-piece, in-process, and final inspections of CNC-machined components. · *Program, operate, and troubleshoot CMM inspection equipment.* · Create and modify CMM inspection programs based on engineering drawings and customer requirements. · Interpret complex engineering drawings, GD&T, tolerances, and specifications. · Use precision inspection equipment including CMMs, calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, and other measurement tools. · Verify dimensional accuracy and ensure parts conform to print specifications. · Document inspection results and maintain accurate quality records. · Identify non-conforming material and work with production personnel to determine root causes and corrective actions. · Communicate inspection results and quality concerns effectively with machinists, engineers, and management. · Assist with developing inspection methods and improving quality-control processes. · Support first article inspections and customer-specific quality requirements. · Maintain calibration and proper use of inspection equipment. · Help establish and maintain consistent inspection procedures throughout the shop. · Promote a strong culture of quality, precision, and continuous improvement. Required Qualifications · *Minimum 6 years of experience in quality inspection within a CNC machining or precision manufacturing environment.* · Proven *CMM programming and operating experience*. · Strong understanding of *GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing)*. · Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings. · Extensive experience with precision measurement equipment. · Exceptional *attention to detail and accuracy*. · Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. · Ability to work independently while communicating effectively with the production team. · Ability to identify potential quality issues before they become larger production problems. · Proficiency with computers and quality documentation systems. Preferred Qualifications · Experience with a variety of CNC machining processes and materials. · Experience with CMM software such as PC-DMIS, Calypso, MCOSMOS, or similar. · Experience with AS9100, ISO 9001, or other quality-management systems. · Experience performing First Article Inspections (FAI). · Knowledge of SPC and statistical quality-control methods. · Experience working in a high-precision, low-to-medium-volume machine shop.
