Category: TeachingJob Function: TeachingDepartment: Exceptional Children - BehaviorSummaryAssists school personnel in implementation of the interventions for at-risk students; Assumes responsibility for the knowledge and application of the appropriate curriculum and the instructional programs for struggling students in compliance with all State and Federal laws, State Department of Education, and Fulton County Board of Education policies, rules, and regulations, including the Georgia Performance StandardsInstructionEssential DutiesModels and supports instructional staff in organizing, identifying, and implementing curriculum including Georgia Standards of Excellence (GSE) and the adapted curriculum Participates in professional learning activities and plans/delivers professional learning activities to staff, parents, and others to increase achievement and outcomes of at-risk studentsCollaborates with parents and local school staff regarding instructional decision-making for identified case-loadAssists school staff in organizing curriculum and utilizing effective teaching strategies and instructional/behavioral interventions Assists teachers in improving classroom management and climate through the implementation of effective instructional methodsCoaches intervention teachers on the proper implementation and fidelity of assigned student interventionsDue ProcessMaintains communication with special education staff, local school personnel including the Rti/SST chair, intervention personnel and District personnel regarding interventions and programmatic needsMaintains student-level data related to each assigned school’s intervention programCollaborates with appropriate school-based personnel to assure timely data input/submission for identified students/school caseloadMonitors assessment/intervention timelines to ensure adherence to State regulationsModels appropriate data collection for identified interventionsCoordinates/participates in the development of intervention plans within assigned school(s)OtherAttends applicable meetings and shares information with appropriate local building personnelContributes to, but does not bear final responsibility for annual evaluations of staffPerforms other duties as assigned by the appropriate administratorRequired EducationBachelor’s DegreeCertification/LicensureMust hold or be eligible to hold Georgia certification in one or more areas of Special Education, Counseling, Social WorkLeadership Certification strongly preferredExperience QualificationsMinimum of 3 years of teaching experience or related educational experience providing services to at-risk students or students with disabilitiesKnowledge/Skills/AbilitiesAbility to apply critical thinking skills in rendering solutions to various issues Ability to plan and implement short and long-range goals and objectives Ability to work with collaborative teams Ability to use Microsoft Office 365 and other system software programs Excellent interpersonal skills needed to work effectively with students, parents, administrators and staff Excellent organizational skills Excellent communication skills both orally and in writing Working ConditionsNormal office environment Requires travel to multiple schools within the District Physical DemandsRoutine physical activity associated with normal office environment Ability to lift and carry 30-50 pounds with assistance Ability to push or pull a maximum of 50 pounds Posting ID: 34509It is the policy of the Fulton County School System not to discriminate on the basis of race, color, sex, religion, national origin, age, or disability in any employment practice, educational program, or any other program, activity, or service.
