Key ResponsibilitiesWhen a guest enters my area or department, my first and most important responsibility becomes to acknowledge, greet, and engage that guestResponsible for hiring, training and performance management of team membersResponsible for communication of information distribution to entire departmentResponsible for maintaining positive atmosphere, spirit and morale within the departmentDemonstrate effective leadership skills by managing time and delegationDevelop team members and future leaders utilizing available materials and systemsSupport and execute division concepts and programsAccountable for executing and meeting financial goalsResponsible for identifying areas of opportunity throughout the store and within the departmentEnsure quality and consistent product availability and solutions to our guestsResponsible for safeguarding, controlling and monitoring all department assets, ensuring policies and procedures are implemented for control of assetsPractice safe work habits; maintain a high level of store cleanliness, organization, and a safe work environment; encourage team members to do the sameOversee that department systems and processes are utilized consistently and correctlyDirect meetings with the department leadership team to effectively plan production and promotion goalsVerify team member schedules against business needsCoach and discipline team members as necessary in accordance with policy and procedures with support from Talent ManagementVerify all books and manuals are kept updatedOversee inventory process and reportingOversee that Food Safety Procedures are adhered toApprove all purchase orders and maintain adequate levelsResponsible for training and testing checkers in accurate produce recognition to ensure guest satisfaction and correct register chargesDemonstrate good conflict management skillsPerform other duties assigned by upper managementKey RequirementsMust be 18 years of age or olderHigh School Diploma or equivalentMinimum of 1 years’ experience as a Produce Assistant ManagerThe Department Manager is required to work the scheduled work shift or as needed to meet the needs of the store guests and team membersAbility to work and communicate with all levels of management and subordinates in a professional mannerAbility to self-motivate, problem-solve and work with minimal supervisionAbility to lift and carry items weighing up to 60 lbs. and push and pull up to 100 lbs.Ability to work within a fridge and/or freezer for long periods of timeBe able to perform all other physical aspects of the position including but not limited to bending, squatting, standing, lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling, and walkingMust possess technical skills to perform basic math and computer tasks (Word, Excel, and Email).Ability to work at fast-paced, but efficient and controlled mannerMust maintain Certified Food Safety Manager certificationBilingual English/Spanish a plusAbility to receive phone calls at homeMust be flexible to work various hours/shifts, including weekends and holidaysMust attend meetings, including out-of-town, requiring overnight staysMust be able to transfer to another store within the areaAbility to function as a team member and get along with othersThis job description is intended to provide a high-level of general requirements for this position.
