Position Type:Student Support ServicesDate Posted:5/5/2026Location:Central OfficeTITLE: Student Wellness CoordinatorQUALIFICATIONS:Master's Degree in Social Work or Related FieldLPC PreferredMeet other requirements as stipulated in SDE Bulletin 746Additional requirements as the Board may requireREPORTS TO: Director of Student ServicesSUPERVISES: NoneJOB GOAL: To enable students to derive the fullest possible educational experience from school by providing or arranging necessary social and emotional support services to promote academic success.PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:Design and implement school-wide programs focusing on social-emotional learning (SEL), nutrition, mindfulness, and physical activity.Collect and analyze student wellness data (surveys, attendance, behavioral reports) to identify trends and gaps in support.Act as a secondary point of contact for students in emotional distress, coordinating with school counselors and psychologists.Serves as liaison between the school and community agencies, through reciprocal referral arrangements, collaboration on cases, and assistance to families in obtaining and utilizing local resources.Interprets social assessment findings to parents, teachers, principals, and other professional parish personnel and responsible practitioners outside the school.Produces a written report of any social work assessments or other services provided to clients.Assists students and their families in meeting physical and economic needs through cooperation with referrals to community agencies and service groups.Maintains accurate case records for all clients, including their referral, evaluation, and any other services provided by the counselor, in accordance with the requirements of parish, state, and federal laws, regulations, and/or policies.Attends staff, professional, and interagency meetings, including those assigned.Ensure the school meets state and federal health mandates (e.g., physical education requirements or mental health screenings).Completes all required reports of the parish and the State Department of Education.Conducts suicidal risk assessments, homicidal risk assessments, and behavior risk assessments. Provides crisis management services and addresses safety issuesConducts home visits when necessaryCoordinates school wellness services and behavior interventionists/family community liaison district-wide.Develops and implements an annual Individual Growth Plan based on the previous year's observation and evaluation recommendations.Completes an annual self-evaluation.Performs other duties as assigned by the proper authority.PERSONAL QUALITIES:Possesses strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with individuals and groupsDemonstrates the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.Devotes time and energy effectively to the job.Exercises good judgment in arriving at decisions.Maintains high standards of ethics, honesty, and integrity in all personal and professional matters.PROFESSIONAL ETHICS (Does not require IAPs.
