Work Schedule: 4X10 M-Th in a manufacturing environment
Position Summary
The High Voltage Electrician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of high voltage electrical systems and equipment. This role ensures systems are installed safely, meet applicable codes and standards, and function reliably to support operational needs.
Key Responsibilities
Install, maintain, and repair high voltage systems, including switchgear, transformers, circuit breakers, and distribution systems
Perform testing and diagnostics using specialized equipment such as megohmmeters, hi-pot testers, and relay test sets
Inspect electrical systems, identify faults, and implement corrective actions to minimize rework
Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical diagrams
Execute switching procedures and support lockout/tagout (LOTO) protocols
Ensure compliance with all applicable electrical codes, standards, and safety regulations
Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and other departments during production
Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, inspections, and test results

Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required; technical training or certification in electrical systems preferred
Minimum 3–5 years of experience working with high voltage systems
Strong knowledge of electrical theory, power distribution, and safety practices
Experience with testing equipment and diagnostic tools for high voltage systems
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
Valid driver's license and ability to travel as needed
Preferred Skills
Licensed Electrician (Journeyman or Master, depending on jurisdiction)
Familiarity with protective relays and SCADA systems
OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
Test function of all electrical components to ensure working as specified under normal operating conditions
Ability to operate testing equipment (e.g., cable testers, multimeters, OTDR)
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
High attention to detail and commitment to safety
Ability to work independently and in team environments
Effective communication and documentation skills
Physical ability to work in demanding environments (heights, confined spaces, outdoor conditions)
Working Conditions
Exposure to high voltage environments requiring strict adherence to safety protocols
Combination of indoor and outdoor
May require travel and occasional overtime depending on project demands
Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required at all times
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
Comfortable working on ladders, lifts, and in confined spaces
Ability to stand, bend, and work for extended periods
