Distribution design engineer

*Lead Distribution Designer / Design Engineer* *Pennsylvania – Utility Service Territory; office location flexible* *Direct Hire* We are seeking an experienced Lead Distribution Designer / Design Engineer to support the growth of a utility distribution engineering program. This individual will serve as a key technical resource and help establish and grow a new distribution design team. Initially, the role will remain highly hands-on, with responsibility for both field assessments and office-based distribution design. As the program expands, this individual will also have the opportunity to help onboard, train, mentor, and guide additional designers. *Responsibilities* * Perform field visits to gather data, evaluate existing infrastructure, and assess site conditions for electric distribution projects. * Develop complete distribution design packages using DDS and established utility standards, specifications, and workflows. * Support both overhead and underground distribution design projects. * Serve as a technical subject matter expert for distribution design processes, tools, standards, and requirements. * Coordinate with utility engineering teams, project managers, and other stakeholders to ensure designs are accurate and delivered on schedule. * Review project requirements and translate field conditions into constructible distribution designs. * Help onboard, train, and mentor new distribution designers as the team expands. * Support program growth and continuous improvement alongside engineering leadership. * Provide technical guidance and help establish consistent design practices across the team. *Required Qualifications* * Professional experience in electric utility distribution design, either directly with a utility or through an engineering/consulting contractor. * Hands-on experience using DDS (Distribution Design System). * Experience performing both field work and office-based distribution design/engineering. * Strong understanding of overhead and underground electric distribution systems. * Knowledge of utility distribution design standards, workflows, and documentation requirements. * Ability to independently develop accurate and constructible distribution design packages. * Strong communication skills with the ability to coordinate across engineering, field, and project teams. *Preferred Qualifications* * Several years of utility distribution design experience. * Experience serving as a senior designer, technical lead, or subject matter expert. * Interest in developing into a team lead or supervisory position; previous formal management experience is not required. * DDS experience across multiple utility environments or service territories. * Engineering degree, technical degree, or relevant industry certification. _About Us:_ _At Brooksource, relationships are the foundation of everything we do.
