Principal Software Engineer

Location: Omaha, Nebraska Type: Direct Hire Job #11716 Salary: $190,000 Location Type: Hybrid Hybrid role in Omaha – 3 days onsite per week We’re seeking a highly technical Principal Software Engineer to help design and build large-scale enterprise software used by thousands of customers. This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, influencing architecture, and mentoring other engineers while remaining actively involved in software development. You’ll partner closely with engineering leadership to modernize applications, improve platform scalability, and drive technical direction across multiple initiatives. Responsibilities Design, develop, and maintain highly scalable backend applications and distributed systems. Lead architecture discussions and influence technical direction across multiple engineering teams. Build secure, high-performance software using modern engineering best practices. Develop cloud-native applications and services within AWS. Work closely with product managers, architects, and fellow engineers to deliver complex technical solutions. Optimize application performance, reliability, and maintainability. Contribute to database design, data processing, and performance optimization. Mentor engineers through design reviews, code reviews, and technical guidance. Drive adoption of AI-assisted development tools to improve engineering productivity. Participate throughout the full software development lifecycle, from design through production support. Required Experience Extensive experience building enterprise applications using C#/.NET. Strong understanding of distributed systems, asynchronous programming, and scalable application design. Deep experience with relational databases including SQL Server and/or PostgreSQL, including complex SQL development and performance tuning. Experience designing REST APIs and service-oriented or microservices-based applications. Hands-on experience with AWS cloud technologies. Preferred Technical Skills C# .NET / .NET Core SQL Server PostgreSQL AWS AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude, or similar LLM-based coding assistants What We’re Looking For Proven technical leader who enjoys owning complex engineering initiatives.
