OverviewApplied Physical Sciences (APS) is seeking a highly motivated Senior Engineer to contribute to the success of our Maritime Systems Division. Ideal candidates will have an BS/MS with a background in subsea technology, acoustics, systems engineering, at sea system testing, and an understanding of Navy technologies and operations.Successful applicants will support the development of a cutting-edge acoustic system through production and test. In this role, the candidate will engage in cross-domain systems engineering to improve end-to-end processes, coordinate the timely completion of engineering activities, and produce customer-facing technical reports. This position will allow applicants to make meaningful contributions to the APS mission.Job Functions And ResponsibilitiesPartner closely with engineering teams, vendors, and program leadership to ensure delivery aligns with approved scope, schedule, and quality expectations.Support system integration and oversee critical system testsSupport system level improvement and production of complex undersea acoustic systemsMentor junior engineers to foster their technical growth and collaborate with cross-functional teamsPlanning and conducting system-level technical reviews at critical milestones (design, integration readiness, go-live readiness)Identifying system-level risks, assumptions, and dependencies during reviews and driving mitigation actionsSupport development, management, and execution of ongoing and future programs pertaining to areas of innovative maritime systemsEnsuring review outcomes are clearly documented, with decisions, actions, and ownership tracked to closureSupport root-cause analysis of system issues and drive corrective actionsProduce technically accurate reports, interface with customers, and lead processes that ensure customer satisfactionRequired Skills and AttributesB.S. degree with 5+ years of relevant experience or M.S. degree with 3+ years of relevant experienceStrong analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills, with the ability to rapidly assess complex systems and contribute independently with minimal oversightDemonstrated ability to deliver technically complex work on schedule while managing dependencies and risks.Demonstrated ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within cross-functional teamsExperience with full system integration and testingStrong understanding of acoustic fundamentals with emphasis on active sonarExperience supporting and partnering with senior technical staff to develop innovative solutions that meet technical needsAbility to technically contribute to and execute a variety of complex technical tasks at a detailed levelAble to obtain and maintain a S.
