Superintendent Construction Superintendent Position Summary The Construction Superintendent is responsible for the overall field management, coordination, and successful execution of ground-up commercial construction projects, including single-tenant retail and fast-casual restaurant developments. This role oversees all phases of construction from site development and utility installation through shell construction, site work, project turnover, and closeout while ensuring safety, quality, schedule, and budget objectives are achieved. Experience with interior build-outs and tenant improvement projects is highly desirable to support future construction assignments. Key Responsibilities Project Site Leadership Provide daily on-site supervision and management of subcontractors, vendors, and field personnel. Coordinate all construction activities to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with contract documents. Conduct daily site walks and monitor workmanship, quality control, and compliance with project specifications. Maintain project schedules and proactively identify and mitigate potential delays. Site Development & Utilities Oversee site preparation activities including clearing, grading, excavation, and erosion control. Coordinate installation of all underground and above-ground utilities including: Water Sanitary sewer Storm sewer Electrical service Gas service Telecommunications Work closely with municipalities, utility providers, inspectors, and subcontractors to ensure timely utility connections and approvals. Shell Construction Manage all aspects of building shell construction including: Foundations Concrete work Structural steel Masonry Framing Roofing Exterior finishes Storefront systems Verify work is completed according to plans, specifications, and local building codes. Site Work Coordination Oversee installation of parking lots, sidewalks, curbs, landscaping, site lighting, signage, and pavement markings. Coordinate site inspections and punch-list completion. Ensure site accessibility, drainage requirements, and final grading are completed successfully. Safety Management Enforce company safety policies and OSHA regulations. Conduct regular safety meetings and site inspections. Maintain a clean, organized, and secure jobsite. Address and resolve safety concerns immediately. Quality Control & Documentation Monitor construction quality and ensure compliance with project standards. Maintain daily reports, schedules, inspection records, and project documentation. Coordinate project punch lists and final turnover activities. Support successful completion of owner inspections and occupancy requirements. Client & Team Coordination Serve as the primary on-site contact for project stakeholders. Collaborate with Project Managers, architects, engineers, owners, inspectors, and subcontractors. Participate in project meetings and provide regular status updates. Qualifications Required 5+ years of commercial construction superintendent experience. Proven experience managing ground-up commercial construction projects. Strong knowledge of site development, utility installation, and shell construction. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications. Knowledge of OSHA regulations and construction safety practices. Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Proficiency with construction scheduling and project management software. Preferred Experience with fast-casual restaurant, retail, or franchise construction projects. Interior construction and tenant improvement/build-out experience. Experience coordinating MEP systems and finish trades. OSHA 30 certification. Ability to manage multiple projects and travel as required.
