Engineering Manager, Notifications Platform

About the Opportunity:The Engineering Manager, Notifications Platform will lead a software engineering team responsible for developing and maintaining the core infrastructure and services that power push, email, and in-app notifications. This role is crucial for enabling reliable, scalable notification experiences that connect users with relevant communities and conversations, thereby enhancing user engagement and product velocity.3. Responsibilities:• Lead the team responsible for architecting, building, and operating the Notifications Platform.• Set technical direction for shared platform capabilities including APIs, eventing, workflow orchestration, delivery pipelines, user preferences, templates, experimentation, and observability.• Collaborate with adjacent machine learning teams to support ML-powered notification systems by providing scalable platform and operational foundations.• Partner with product and engineering teams to define platform contracts and improve developer experience.• Oversee the full development lifecycle of services, ensuring high availability and continuous improvement.• Establish best practices for reliability, scalability, performance, privacy, security, and operational excellence.• Build and maintain a diverse, cross-disciplinary team.• Align team plans with organizational goals through collaboration with product and management.• Communicate progress and set expectations with stakeholders.• Support engineers in career development and goal setting.4. Requirements:• Minimum 2 years of experience managing engineering teams.• Over 5 years of experience as a Software Engineer or Engineering Manager working on large-scale distributed systems or platform services.• Strong knowledge of distributed systems, service-oriented architectures, event-driven systems, and APIs; experience with notification or high-volume delivery systems is a plus.• Hands-on experience with highly available, low-latency services and operational excellence.• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, data storage, streaming or messaging systems, and observability tools.• Experience setting technical direction balancing consistency, extensibility, and autonomy.• Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to act decisively in fast-paced environments.• Effective communication skills with both technical and non-technical audiences.• Ability to address ambiguous and undefined problems.5.
