Human Resources Specialist (Canton)

Position Summary:The Human Resources (HR) Specialist will play a key role in supporting day-to-day human resources operations, including recruitment & staffing, employee relations, standardization/compliance, and HR administration. The HR Specialist will partner with leadership and employees to deliver effective and efficient HR solutions aligned with organizational goals. This position will be based in our Canton, Michigan office and will report directly to the Vice President of HR.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Supports full-cycle recruitment including job postings, screening, interviewing, and onboardingServes as a key support for employee relations matters, providing guidance on policies and proceduresAdministers HR programs such as benefits, leave of absence, and performance managementMaintains accurate employee records and ensure HRIS data integrityEnsures compliance with federal, state/provincial, and local employment laws and regulationsAssists with payroll coordination, processing and reportingSupports training and development initiativesParticipates in HR projects and process improvementsGenerates HR metrics and reports to support business decisionsPerform other duties as assigned or required to meet the evolving needs of the team and businessQualifications:Bachelor's degree in Human Resources is required2–5 years of HR experience in specialist capacity with desire to develop into generalist/business partnerHR certification (e.g., CHRP, PHR, SHRM-CP) is a plusStrong working knowledge of employment laws and HR best practicesAbility to use good judgment and discretion with highly confidential business and employee informationStrong business acumen, analytical and problem-solving skills with high degree of attention to detailProven ability to gather and analyze data and present findings with actionable recommendationsPossesses strong written & verbal communications with all levels of management, organizational and interpersonal skillsExcellent time management, prioritization abilities with streamlining/simplification mindset, and strong project management skillsAbility to manage multiple deadlines in fast-paced environmentCommitment to continuous improvementProven track record of effectively partnering with cross-functional team members at all levels, translating data into useful information about the business, and influencing strategic initiatives to drive HR improvementsStrong ability to generate respect and trust from staff and external stakeholders along with the ability to work collaboratively with staff/colleagues to create a results-driven, team-oriented environmentProficiency with HRIS systems (i.e. Paylocity, Employee Navigator, etc.) and Microsoft Office SuiteStrong desire to learn, develop, and expand professional skills for future leadership opportunities within Human Resources function
