Senior Hydrogeologist

Senior Hydrogeologist Montgomery & Associates (M&A) is seeking a full-time senior hydrogeologist to join our California Team. The position includes senior-level responsibilities and requires the ability to manage and provide technical oversight to multiple tasks and/or projects simultaneously. The person in this position will interact with M&A team leaders, project staff, project managers, administrative personnel, clients, and regulators. Our company of highly respected water resources professionals, headquartered in Tucson, AZ, has been in business since 1984 and is growing, with recent expansions in the western U.S. and South America. In California, our team comprises 23 professionals located in 4 offices: Oakland, Sacramento, Monterey, and Pasadena. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with an enthusiastic team of water resource scientists and engineers throughout California and interact with our expert team of modelers and senior professionals in Tucson. ResponsibilitiesManaging and technically contributing to tasks and projects that focus on quantitative hydrogeology and groundwater resources management, including:Implementing SGMA and supporting engineering projects to achieve sustainabilityDesigning and interpreting predictive modeling runs and supporting model updatesDeveloping hydrogeologic conceptual models and water budgetsDesigning monitoring networks and coordinating field teams to implement monitoring programsMeeting with regulatory agencies and water agenciesEvaluating data and preparing technical reportsReviewing technical reports at a senior levelSupporting Program Manager and Task Managers in evaluating level of effort and scope of work for new technical effortsDirecting, training, and mentoring junior staffManaging relationships with clients and other project stakeholders, including regulatory agenciesPreparing technical proposals and work plans for future workLeading business development by building client relationships, identifying opportunities, and contributing to proposals and scopesQualificationsGraduate degree in hydrology, geology, or engineeringStrong ability to apply hydrogeologic principles to characterize and assess groundwater systemsFamiliarity with California water laws and regulations preferredFifteen or more years of experience in environmental and water resources consultingProfessional registration (P.G. or P.E.)Professional experience working with groundwater modelsExperience working on SGMA projects for Groundwater Sustainability AgenciesProven task or project management experienceExcellent technical writing skills and ability to present technical information in group/meeting settingsProficiency with standard analytical approaches and toolsInterest in engaging in professional organizations, including presenting at conferencesAbility to legally work and reside in the United StatesBenefits include:Competitive benefits and salary in an expanding team-oriented companyDynamic work environment with safety and technical training provided by the companyInteresting and collaborative multidisciplinary projectsOn the job mentoring by senior professionalsMedical, dental, and vision insuranceFlexible Spending Account; HRALong- and short-term disabilityLife/AD&D insuranceVacation, holiday, personal, and sick leaveEmployer matching 401k retirement planCompensation range:Monthly Base Pay Range: $10,400 - $14,000Estimated Annualized Compensation Including Bonuses: $140,400 - $189,000Compensation for qualified extra hours could further increase the estimate above.
