Job Description
Position Summary:The Licensed Social Worker provides comprehensive psychosocial assessment, treatment planning, and discharge coordination for patients admitted to the inpatient behavioral health unit. This role supports patients experiencing acute psychiatric, emotional, and substance use disorders, ensuring safe, patient-centered care and continuity of services post-discharge.Key Responsibilities:Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments within required timeframesDevelop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary teamFacilitate individual, group, and family therapy sessions as appropriateProvide crisis intervention and stabilization supportCoordinate discharge planning, including referrals to outpatient services, community resources, and aftercare programsCollaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure integrated careAssist patients and families with coping strategies, education, and resource navigationMaintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with regulatory and facility standardsParticipate in treatment team meetings, case reviews, and quality improvement initiativesEnsure compliance with state, federal standardsAdvocate for patient rights and promote a safe therapeutic environmentQualifications:Master's Degree in Social Work (MSW) from an accredited programCurrent, active state licensure (LCSW or LMSW required)Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in behavioral health, psychiatric, or inpatient healthcare setting preferredKnowledge of mental health disorders, substance use disorders, and crisis intervention techniquesStrong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skillsCertifications (Preferred/Required):CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) or equivalentBLS (Basic Life Support), if required by facilityWork Environment:Inpatient psychiatric/behavioral health unitFast-paced, high-acuity settingRequires ability to manage emotionally intense situations and patient crisesPhysical & Mental Requirements:Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periodsAbility to respond quickly in crisis situationsEmotional resilience and professional boundaries in high-stress environments
