The individual will operate overhead cranes, operatemobile lifting equipment, and stand in at various positions when needed. The main focus ofthe individual will be to ready materials needed by the consteel furnace for every heat andassist in the operation, maintenance and tapping of the furnace.What You'll DoParticipate in the CMC Safety Programs and proactively uphold the CMC Safety Culturework with liquid process personnel in the operation, monitoring, and performance of all casting equipmentTake slag samples as requiredAssist in tapping the heat from the furnace including making alloy additions to de-oxidize the heatResponsible for controlling and replenishing the inventory of consumables needed on the operations floorEffectively communicate with others about possible production issues, concerns, and needsEnsure equipment inspection reports are filled out each shiftResponsible for continuous improvement such as suggesting improvements in work methods and proceduresResponsible for daily housekeeping duties including but not limited to immediate work areaTroubleshoot work related problems using job knowledge, experience, and by communicating with othersUnderstand start up, shutdown, and emergency proceduresPerform other duties as assigned.What You'll NeedAbility to work as a team player in a fast-paced environment, with excellent strong work ethic, attention to detail, and organizational skillsAbility to work with exposure to extremes in temperature, chemical, dust fumes and mists, uneven surfaces, loud noise, elevated work areas, and confined spacesBasic computer skillsDependability in attendance, work completion, and flexibility to meet business needsMust be able to learn quickly and multitaskWillingness to work a rotating shift, including weekends and holidaysAbility to work overtime as required, including planned schedules and unplanned emergency situationsAbility to lift to 50 pounds, climb ladders and stairs, and stand for extended periods of timeAbility to stand for duration of shift; frequent physical activity such as walking, climbing stairs or reaching to work with equipment throughout the entire shiftYour EducationHigh School Diploma or GED preferredWe are CMC, a Fortune 500® company at the leading edge of our industry.
