S & S Technical, the recognized leader of packaged fluid and gas transfer and metering systems, is looking for an experienced self-motivated individual to join our team as an electrical / controls engineer in our Alpharetta manufacturing facility. This individual will work in an office setting and be responsible for developing engineered electrical drawings, both schematics and panel layout, using AutoCAD Electrical, specify components, and create Bill of materials, for process control equipment based on provided P&ID. The designed drawings must meet customer specifications and match quoted equipment. They will work with mechanical team to ensure all necessary instrumentation is designed into the system to provide necessary feedback to ensure proper operation. The individual must be a self-starter, take initiative, and be able to work independently and collaborate with a team.Primary duties and responsibilities include:Create electrical schematics for fabricating & modification of new & existing process control & instrumentation systems.Use experience & research to create electrical schematics to properly control process equipment from P&IDs using components that meet or exceed code requirements for the environment.Turn conceptual designs into practical solutions.Specify discrete, analog, & networked control solutions.Assist in the development of instrumentation standard.Provide recommendations for productivity improvement, cost reduction, & enhanced customer satisfactionProvide technical support to the electrical team during fabrication & commissioning as needed.Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, & best practices in electrical & controls engineeringUtilizes best practices in creating electrical drawings.Apply advanced skills to resolve complex problems not covered by existing procedures or practices independently, including developing innovative solutionsProvide technical leadership on projects from concept through deploymentInterface with customers as required (i.e. drawing approvals)Essential Skills Education (B.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field) - Other education considered with 5+ years in similar role.Experience working with Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)Extensive knowledge & experience with specifying & selecting Pressure, Temperature, Level & Flow Meters & other instruments used in Process Control.Experience in creating schematics & control panels layouts utilizing AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical.Valued But Not Required Skills and ExperienceConduct system testing, validation, and commissioning to ensure reliable and efficient operation.Complete the commissioning of complex systems that integrate hardware and software.Design / Create PLC programs.
