JOB DESCRIPTION
The ideal candidate will assist the Program Director in facilitating staff meetings, participate in Program Director meetings and PEER meetings in the Program Director’s absence, and provide supervision for staff, when required. The incumbent will supervise the program in the absence of the Program Director.

Compensation
$34.44 – $48.23/hr. Non-Exempt; Competitive Compensation; Nonexempt; 40 hours/week; Eligible for Overtime.

QUALIFICATIONS
Required: Bilingual in Spanish. Bachelor’s and two years’ experience working with adults with serious mental illness or with substance abuse problems in a social rehabilitation program or experience in a related field. Experience working with the homeless population highly desirable. Ability to; work as a member of a team, maintain appropriate boundaries while working in close inter-personal relationships; possess strong crisis intervention skills; learn and apply principles of social rehabilitation; knowledge of community resources desirable; organized, flexible, empathic and able to relate effectively with clients, other staff, professionals and members of the community.
Driver’s license for at least two years and driving record acceptable to insurance carrier.
Valid California driver's license; auto in safe operating condition; auto liability insurance; good driving record; criminal record clearance; proof of authorization to work in the United States as required by Immigration and Reform Act of 1986. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Preferred: Master’s in counseling or related field, registered with BBS.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the supervision of the Program Director, the Assistant Program Director will assist with the following duties:
Provide on-call services.
Supervise program in absence of Program Director, including facilitation of staff meetings, participation in Program Director meetings, conduct intakes and supervision of staff, when required.
Participate in selection and orientation of new staff members and provide on-going support and supervision to staff team.
Responsible for supervision and evaluation of staff as assigned.
Provide back-up crisis support and emergency coverage for counseling staff members.
Provide direct services for clients including outreach, client intake, assessment, treatment planning and crisis intervention.
Maintain awareness of program issues and assist in problem solving and supporting with ongoing client needs.
Arrange for client’s medical and mental health needs; i.e., link with psychiatrist and nurse, and arrange for housing, clothing, food, personal items and benefit needs.
Provide case management and mental health services as assigned.
Monitor Medi-Cal documentation requirements (treatment plans, progress notes, etc.) Inform the Program Director in a timely manner when charting or treatment planning is not being appropriately performed or staff are not meeting their documentation requirements.
Liaison and coordination with County Behavioral Health system and other private and public social services including but not limited to; local homeless organizations, mental health agencies, other Interim programs, local police departments and local hospitals
Conduct effective public relations activities as assigned including but not limited to networking, attending meetings, providing program presentations.
Serve as a role model for positive employee relations, professional functioning, and for adherence to the principles of social rehabilitation, recovery and wellness, and the philosophy of a Full Service Partnership (FSP).
Attend to maintenance and safety of facility.
Assist with oversight of grants and FSP tracking.
Other duties as assigned.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to: operate a motor vehicle; climb stairs; possess good communication skills; meet the requirements of the classification and have mobility, vision, hearing and dexterity levels appropriate to the duties to be performed. Capable of the following extended activities: standing, sitting, climbing stairs.
Capable of the following intermittent activities: lifting 25 pounds or more and bending in the performance of infrequently performed office duties.
