Operations CoordinatorIndustry: F reight ForwardLocation: Rancho Dominguez, CA (On-site required)Employment Type: Full-time or Part-time (Non-exempt)Working Hours: 9:00 AM-6:00 PM or 1:00 PM-6:00 PM (5 hours/day, 5 days/week)Hourly Rate: $20-$24/hr (Depending on experience)Position SummaryOur client, a Japanese freight forwarding company, is seeking an Operations Coordinator.This position is responsible for researching shipping rates, routes, and transportation modes for product shipments, and issuing invoices to customers. The role supports international freight forwarding operations by coordinating with vendors, brokers, and carriers to ensure smooth and compliant cargo movement, while maintaining excellent communication with internal teams and external partners.Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesFreight Forwarding OperationsCalculate weight, volume, and cost of goods to be shipped.Provide customers with shipping options, lead times, and transit details.Prepare shipping documents such as Bills of Lading and Certificates of Origin.Notify exporters, consignees, or insurers of shipment status.Coordinate customs clearance and delivery (DAP/DDP) with customs brokers and trucking companies.Prepare and issue sales invoices; process payment requests for vendor invoices.Select shipment routes based on cargo type, transit time, and service requirements.Consolidate shipments to optimize costs.Monitor and track shipment locations.Reserve cargo space on vessels, aircraft, or trucks.Negotiate shipping rates and contracts with carriers and logistics vendors.Arrange delivery or storage of goods at destination.Ensure all documentation meets customs, insurance, and regulatory standards.Recommend cost-effective and efficient shipping methods.Advise on proper packing methods based on cargo type and conditions.Stay current on logistics regulations, trade policies, and market conditions.Provide detailed port and vessel information using carrier tracking systems.Build strong working relationships with overseas branches and agents to support business development opportunities.
