Payroll Administrator
Top Stack is seeking a temp/temp to perm Payroll Admin for a reputable and growing company in the Baltimore area. This is a hybrid opportunity looking for someone who is able to work onsite 2-3 days per week.Job Title: Payroll Administrator (UKG)Role Overview:Responsible for accurate and timely payroll processing using UKG (Ultimate Kronos Group) systems.Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, as well as internal company policies.Acts as a key point of contact for payroll-related inquiries and system support.Key Responsibilities:Process end-to-end payroll cycles (weekly, bi-weekly, or semi-monthly) in UKG Pro / UKG Ready.Maintain and audit employee payroll records including earnings, deductions, taxes, and direct deposits.Validate timekeeping data from UKG Time & Attendance (UTA/Kronos) and resolve discrepancies.Manage payroll imports/exports, including benefit deductions, garnishments, and bonuses.Ensure compliance with IRS regulations, wage and hour laws (FLSA), and state-specific requirements.Reconcile payroll reports, general ledger postings, and third-party vendor reports.Support tax filings, W-2 processing, and year-end payroll activities.Handle off-cycle payrolls, adjustments, and retroactive pay calculations.Maintain confidentiality of employee payroll data.Assist with system updates, testing, and process improvements within UKG.UKG-Specific Duties:Configure and maintain pay codes, earnings codes, and deduction codes in UKG.Troubleshoot payroll processing errors within UKG system workflows.Generate and analyze UKG payroll reports (e.g., payroll register, variance reports).Collaborate with HRIS or IT teams on UKG integrations and enhancements.Utilize UKG dashboards for payroll analytics and audit readiness.Qualifications:2–5+ years of payroll processing experience, preferably with UKG Pro or UKG Ready.Strong understanding of payroll regulations, tax compliance, and reporting requirements.Experience with timekeeping systems (UKG/Kronos preferred).Proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs) for payroll reconciliation.High attention to detail and accuracy.Preferred Certifications:CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) or FPC (Fundamental Payroll Certification).UKG-specific training or certifications (if available).Skills & Competencies:Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities.Ability to manage multiple payroll cycles and deadlines.Strong communication skills for employee support and cross-functional collaboration.Process improvement mindset with focus on automation and efficiency.Performance Metrics:Payroll accuracy rate and error reduction.Timeliness of payroll processing and tax filings.Audit compliance and issue resolution turnaround time.Employee satisfaction with payroll services.
