(exp 6/30/26)PurposeTurf Tech / Mobile Small Engine Mechanic Job DescriptionIndependently performs complex diagnostics, service repairs and maintenance work on customer and/or dealer-owned turf equipment at customer locations. May require some direction or guidance from the Service Manager or Shop Foreman.ResponsibilitiesMaintains current knowledge of John Deere and competitive products. Performs diagnostics and repairs on John Deere and competitive equipment and technology. Equipment type but not limited to: Skid loaders, Mini Excavator, 4 wheel front loaders, Compact Utility Tractors, Utility Vehicles, Commercial and Residential mowing equipment.Extensive diagnostic and repair capabilities for 2 stroke and 4 stroke small engines.Mentors Service Technician Trainees and Service Technicians Provide delivery support as needed, ie… equipment pick up and or deliveryConducts or supports customer clinics Performs diagnostics and repairs in the field as required Accountable for billable time and assigned work orders Responsible for complete and thorough documentation of diagnostics and repairs performed on work orders and on time submittal of information Participate in John Deere University and Dealer Training programs required for the development of skills and knowledge Operates and maintains vehicles, tools and equipment required to perform job responsibilities Maintains a clean work area and performs work in a neat and orderly fashionFollows all safety rules and regulations in performing work assignments Maintains current knowledge of John Deere and competitive products Be able to lift 50 lbsAdditional duties as assignedPhysical RequirementsAbility to stand and walk for extended periods (typically 6–10 hours per shift) on concrete shop floors.Frequent bending, kneeling, crouching, and stooping to access low-mounted components and equipment.Ability to reach, stretch, and work overhead when servicing equipment or mounted components.Regular use of hands and fingers for fine motor skills, including handling tools, small parts, and diagnostic equipment.Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs occasionally (and lighter weights frequently), with or without assistance.Capability to maneuver equipment and parts, including loading/unloading machines or components.May require climbing ladders or step stools to access equipment.Ability to operate shop equipment such as hoists, jacks, forklifts, and diagnostic tools. Work Environment / ExposureRegular exposure to noise, vibration, fumes, oils, grease, and dust in a shop environment.Work performed in varying temperatures (heated shop, open bay doors, occasional outdoor work).Exposure to moving mechanical parts and electrical systems.Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as gloves, eye protection, and hearing protection.Physical CapabilitiesSufficient vision (close and distance) to inspect parts, read manuals, and perform diagnosticsAdequate hearing ability to diagnose engine performance and detect mechanical issuesAbility to work in awkward positions for extended periods (under equipment, tight spaces)Ability to perform repetitive motions such as wrenching, fastening, and tool operationAdditional Dealership-Specific NotesFrequent handling of mowers, compact tractors, handheld equipment (chainsaws, trimmers, blowers)Occasional equipment transport or yard movementWork pace may be seasonally demanding (spring/summer peak for turf equipment)Experience, Education, Skills And Knowledge3+ years of relevant professional experience repairing small gas and diesel engines to be considered.Experience performing service repairs; demonstrated experience consistently meeting performance metrics preferredExperience performing repairs and maintenance using special tools and equipmentfollowing technical manuals and or specific computer programs and platform procedures on machines of the Technician’s specialtyExperience with the mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems used in off road, construction, turf, or heavy equipment Experience operating vehicles, tools, and equipment for diagnostic purposesExperience with basic computer functions; experience using Service ADVISOR™ or other computer based diagnostic repair tools preferred Experience working cooperatively in a team environment Experience communicating effectively verbally and in writing Must have an adequate toolset to perform job responsibilities High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience required; Associates degree preferred Have current or be able to obtain DOT Medical Certificate. Valid driver’s license required, must be 21 yrs of age with relevant driving experienceThe compensation for this position is $20-$32 per hr. Based on experience.#INDHP
