Bench Scientist (Andover)

Job Title: Bench Scientist Location: Andover, MA 01810 100% onsite Duration: 12 Months contract (Extendable) Job Overview We are seeking a Bench Scientist I to join the Critical Reagents Group. This is a fully onsite, laboratory-focused role ideal for a recent graduate or early-career scientist (0–3 years of experience in biotechnology or pharmaceuticals). The role involves hands-on wet lab work supporting the preparation, characterization, and management of critical reagents used across therapeutic programs. The selected candidate must be comfortable working with BSL-2 biohazardous materials and chemical hazards, including antibody–drug conjugate-related materials. Key Responsibilities Laboratory Work Perform bioconjugation of therapeutics with proteins, tags, or labels Conduct laboratory assays and analytical testing, including: ELISA / ligand binding assays HPLC UV/Vis spectroscopy BCA assays Execute multi-day experimental workflows Maintain accurate and complete laboratory documentation Prepare templated summary sheets for reagents (no interpretive report writing required) Support management of critical reagent inventory Coordinate materials stored in off-site critical storage Interface with external inventory management teams Assist with registration, submission, and lifecycle tracking of reagents Upload and manage characterization summaries on internal systems Generate and track purchase orders and lab costs Manage buffer supplies and consumables Organize freezer inventory Follow all safety procedures for hazardous materials handling Work within a small, collaborative lab-based team Independently manage assigned weekly tasks Communicate and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, or related scientific field 0–3 years of academic or industry wet lab experience (coursework, internships, co-ops acceptable) Ability to work 100% onsite and perform full-time laboratory work Comfort working with BSL-2 biohazardous and chemical materials Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office Suite) Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline (recent graduates welcome, PhD will not work) Hands-on experience with: Bioconjugation techniques ELISA or ligand binding assays HPLC or similar analytical instrumentation Most Critical Skills Strong foundation in biology, chemistry, or biochemistry Knowledge of protein characterization techniques such as: ELISA, BCA, SDS-PAGE, Western blot Octet, UV-Vis, analytical SEC (preferred) Excellent organizational and communication skills Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment Strong critical thinking, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities Flexible, team-oriented mindset Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Interview Process Virtual screening interview Technical/team interview
