Registered Respiratory Therapist Location: Craig, CO Agency: Cynet Health Pay: $2,203 per week Shift Information: Nights - 3 days x 12 hours Contract Duration: 13 Weeks Start Date: ASAP About the Position Job Title: Certified Respiratory Therapist Profession: Cardiopulmonary Specialty: Respiratory Therapy Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum of one year respiratory experience in a hospital setting License: Graduate of a COARC approved Respiratory Care Program Certifications: Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT), BLS certification (obtained within 90 days of hire), NRP certifications (obtained within 6 months of hire) Must-Have: Excellent working knowledge of Respiratory Care instruments and equipment Description: The Certified Respiratory Therapist is responsible for administering safe and competent respiratory care as ordered by the physician. Emphasis is placed on specialty areas such as Emergency, Neonatal, Pediatric, Geriatric, and Critical Care. The role involves monitoring mechanical ventilation and administering medications. Patient assessment and understanding of hemodynamic monitoring are essential components of the job. The therapist must be able to understand and interpret blood work results. Additional responsibilities include monitoring, teaching, and training. Competent delivery of all Respiratory Care procedures is outlined in the department policy and procedure manual. Accurate documentation of all Respiratory Care procedures is required. Verification of Respiratory Care physician's orders is necessary. Receiving and providing complete reports is expected. Updating and completing patient information to reflect the patient's current clinical status is important. Participation in department in-services, meetings, patient care rounds, and mandatory hospital meetings is expected. Keeping supervisors informed of changes in workload and patient acuity is crucial. Daily services and charges provided to patients must be entered into the department's computer system. Effective airway management, including bag/mask ventilation, must be performed. Assisting physicians or intubation-certified therapists with intubation is also part of the role. Safe and appropriate suction techniques and artificial airway usage are required. The therapist assists in the orientation and training of new employees and respiratory/nursing students. Performing arterial blood gas draws is a key task. Initiating, maintaining, and monitoring ventilator patients is essential. Interpreting flow volumes and pressure volume curves to implement appropriate clinical changes is necessary. Continuous training and education, including department-specific requirements, must be completed. Compliance with established personal protective equipment requirements is mandatory to ensure protection against exposure to potentially infectious materials and hazardous substances. Patient charge reconciliation is required. The therapist is responsible for verifying the accuracy and timely submission of time for payroll preparation. A working knowledge of all cardiopulmonary equipment is expected. Proficiency in performing all assigned modalities provided by cardiopulmonary is essential. The ability to translate medication doses for neonates and pediatrics using appropriate equipment and procedures is crucial. Assessing geriatric patients for special needs is necessary. A comprehensive assessment of patient respiratory status is required. Making recommendations for appropriate therapeutic interventions and documenting status, progress, and effects of therapies is a core function. Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served are expected. Other duties may be assigned as necessary. Demonstrating a commitment to performance aligned with organizational values is essential. Establishing and maintaining effective communication and good working relationships with patients, staff, and vendors is crucial. Adhering to dress code policies is required. The therapist should utilize initiative and strive to maintain a steady level of productivity while managing time effectively. Completing annual education, training, and licensure requirements is expected, along with participation in departmental meetings. Maintaining patient confidentiality at all times is mandatory. Timely attendance and completing work within designated timeframes are required. Active participation in performance improvement and quality improvement activities is encouraged. Upholding regulatory requirements to ensure compliance with all regulations and policies is essential.
