Communications & Events Intern

THE ROLE
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Events and Communications Intern to support I Can’t Wait to Vote in planning, executing, and following up on a variety of events to support book distribution and voter engagement. This role is ideal for a student eager to gain practical experience in event management, customer relations, and public relations.Preferred majors: Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Business Administration, Political Science.
The ideal candidate will be available for 15 hours a week, 3 hours a day with general availability during business hours (9am to 5pm EST) is acceptable.This internship is a hybrid experience with one day a week onsite at an address in Lake Worth to be shared during the interview process. Opportunity for more hours if needed for event support or logistics. Compensation for this internship includes a $1500 stipend for the semester and course credit submission, if applicable.
Responsibilities
Event Planning and Execution:
Assist in the development of event timelines, budgets, and logistics.
Coordinate with vendors, venues, and internal teams to ensure seamless event execution.
Contribute to the creation of event materials, such as invitations, agendas, and presentations.
Provide on-site support for events, including registration, guest management, and troubleshooting.
Customer Relations and Follow-Up:
Manage inquiries and provide excellent customer service via email, phone, and in-person.
Assist in maintaining strong relationships with event attendees, partners, and stakeholders.
Conduct post-event surveys and analyze feedback to identify areas for improvement.
Communications Support:
Assist in developing and distributing press releases and media materials.
Manage social media channels and create engaging content related to events.
Contribute to the creation of event-related communications, such as email campaigns and newsletters.
Qualifications
Enrolled in a communications or related degree program.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in Google Workspace or Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Enthusiasm for events and a passion for building relationships.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with event planning software or customer relationship management (CRM) systems. Technology Platforms used: Convertkit, ThriveCart, Wordpress + Wix, Dubsado, Canva and other Business operating tools
Graphic design or social media management experience.
Interest in public relations and media relations.
