Facilities Maintenance Assistant (FT), Daughters of St. Paul, Jamaica Plain

The Facilities Maintenance Assistant is responsible for performing routine and preventive maintenance, repairs, and minor renovations for properties utilized by the Daughters of St. Paul. The Facilities Maintenance Assistant assumes a proactive supportive role in assisting the Daughters of St. Paul in preserving and adequately maintaining their facilities. The Facilities Maintenance Assistant performs general maintenance and repairs.Directly Reports to: Asa Kaufman, Director of FacilitiesSpecific Activities:Guarantees that the Congregation of the Daughters of St. Paul's investment is preserved and adequately maintained by supporting the guidelines set up by the Local Superior and the Provincial Treasurer.Accountable for the total performance done in repairs, preventive maintenance, and renovations assigned.Responsible for inspecting and assisting the supervisor with regard to Preventive Maintenance:Life Safety EquipmentSlips, Trips & FallsHousekeepingSecurityBuilding & MaintenanceMeets weekly with the Director of Facilities for coordination of maintenance activities, creating work schedules, establishing priorities, contributing and receiving input.Supports management decisions and implements them as directed by the Director of Facilities.Completes work orders with efficiency and in a timely manner.Follows established preventative maintenance scheduleCommunicates concerns and or needs regarding facilities and equipment to the Director of Facilities.Helps to keep track of inventory of supplies and reports needs in a timely manner to the Director of Facilities.Provides suggestions for the purchase of needed trade-related equipment.Responsible for patching, preparation and painting of new or re-modeled interior and exterior surfaces.Troubleshoot and resolve routine maintenance issues in a timely and efficient manner in coordination with the Director of Facilities.Maintains shop, equipment, and work area in a clean, organized, and safe manner by assisting in caring for and putting away any tools/materials used on a weekly basis.May be required to do snow shoveling, snow removal and salting during work hours.Available by telephone to respond to emergencies.Performs any other task, within scope of expertise, as requested by the Director of Facilities for the efficient functioning of the properties or materials owned by the Daughters of St. Paul including general basic custodial duties.JOB COMPETENCIESKnowledge:Knowledge of standard practices, materials, tools, and terminology of the building tradesKnowledge of basic repairs and best practices for preparing and painting surfaces, plumbing, carpentryKnowledge of basic mechanical terminologyUnderstands verbal and written instructionsUnderstands the organization and its mission and visionSkills and AbilitiesAbility to safely operate a variety of power tools and equipmentAbility to work independently as well as effectively interact and collaborate in a teamPunctual and consistent attendance and strong work ethicPossess organizational skills, time management skills, and have the ability to multitask when necessaryAbility to be flexible and adapt to changing work prioritiesAbility to communicate well with general populationAble to stoop, crouch, kneel, and stand for extended periods of timeAbility to adapt to various temperatures and weather conditionsAble to meet deadlinesAble to deal with moderate levels of stress related to time constraints and hazards of the jobAble to climb ladders, maintain balance, lift up to 50 lbs, reach above shoulder level, and operate power tools.To apply please send resume and cover letter to humanresources@paulinemedia.com .
