The company operates with a stable workflow, strong demand, and a collaborative, team-oriented environment.The OpportunityKauffman Truss Inc. is seeking a Sales & Design Associate to join the team full-time in Westminster, South Carolina. This role is ideal for someone with experience in construction, building materials, truss design, estimating, or contractor sales who wants to grow into a larger technical and relationship-driven role over time.The ideal candidate is organized, technically minded, comfortable communicating with builders and contractors, and motivated to learn. While MiTek experience is strongly preferred, it is not required for the right individual. Kauffman Truss is willing to train someone with strong construction knowledge, problem-solving ability, and the aptitude to learn truss design and estimating systems.This position will work directly alongside ownership and play a key role in supporting design capacity, customer relationships, estimating, and long-term growth initiatives. This is a relationship-driven role focused on technical expertise, responsiveness, and helping customers solve problems, not high-pressure sales tactics.Location: Westminster, SC (On-Site)Reports To: Ownership / Leadership TeamIndustry: Wood Truss Manufacturing & DesignCompensation: $70,000 – $100,000 annually, depending on experience and qualifications. Compensation will be a combination of salary and commission that aligns with the company’s yearly sales objectives and production efficiency metrics.What You’ll DoSales, Design & EstimatingAssist builders and contractors with truss layouts, project coordination, and framing solutions.Prepare truss estimates, layouts, and material takeoffs.Learn and utilize MiTek software for truss design and estimating.Review architectural and structural plans for accuracy and constructability.Support revisions, field adjustments, and customer requests.Coordinate with production to ensure projects are accurate and buildable.Customer Relationships & CommunicationCommunicate directly with builders, contractors, and customers regarding active projects.Help answer technical framing, estimating, and scheduling questions.Build long-term relationships through professionalism, responsiveness, and problem-solving.Support both new and existing customer relationships over time.Operational CollaborationWork closely with ownership, plant leadership, and production staff.Support scheduling and project coordination as needed.Help improve internal processes and documentation.Maintain organization and attention to detail across multiple active projects simultaneously.What We’re Looking ForPreferred Experience & QualificationsExperience in construction, building materials, truss design, estimating, or contractor sales.MiTek software experience preferred but not required.Ability to read blueprints, architectural plans, and construction documents.Strong communication and problem-solving skills.Technically minded with the ability to learn quickly.Organized and detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities.Comfortable working in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.Bonus PointsPrevious truss manufacturing or lumber industry experience.Experience interacting directly with builders and contractors.Knowledge of residential framing, roof systems, or engineered lumber products.Sales or estimating experience within construction-related industries.What Success Looks LikeThe right person will become a key contributor to both the technical and relationship side of the business.
