DEPARTMENT: EVANGELINE'S HOUSEPOSITION TITLE: PROGRAM OPERATIONS SPECIALISTSTATUS: PART TIME, NON-EXEMPTSUPERVISOR: EVANGELINE'S HOUSE PROGRAM MANAGERMISSION STATEMENT:The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.SCOPE OF POSITION:Program Operations Specialists working in Evangeline's House and provide temporary shelter, care, compassion, meals, and supervision for up to six Washington State Foster Care youth (10-17 years) and emerging adults (18-20 years) in emergency placement situations for a maximum of 30 days while awaiting placement.EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:* Have a high school diploma or GED* Two (2) years of successful experience working with youthKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:21 years of agePass a Criminal Background CheckPass a DSHS Background CheckBe emotionally mature and stable in order to provide consistency, structure, and nurturing.CPR/First Aid trainingBlood borne pathogen/HIV trainingDe-escalation and restraint trainingProduce a recent negative TB testFood Handlers permitCapable of auditory and visual supervision; verbally and physically interact with children in carePossess skills/abilities to successfully work with the challenging behaviors of youth in careEffective communication and problem-solving skillsHigh personal standards of cleanliness and thoroughnessBe available to be on-call to cover other shifts during the week; some HolidaysESSENTIAL DUTIES:Attend monthly staff meetings & trainingsTraining Tracts - required readings & reports for one yearWork well within a teamCommunicate program needs & client needs to supervisorsDirectly supervise youth in careBe able to communicate effectively with professional agencies and administrationActively lead, participate in the client's daily activities including, meal times, sports activities, learning activities, swimming, field trips & tutoringFollow posted schedules unless directed otherwise by a supervisorDocument client's daily activitiesModel appropriate social and interpersonal behaviors for youth in careAssist youth in identifying and meeting their physical needsFollow and ensure compliance of all Child Safety policies and proceduresEnsure HIPPA. WAC guidelines, contract, licensing and local policy and procedures complianceProperly implement behavior management (de-escalation and restraint)Comply with youth disciplinary guidelinesOffer guidance to the youth as neededClean the facility when neededDo laundry when neededAssist with snow removal when necessaryServe food to the youth at meal times, as well as provide snacks throughout the dayMaintain facility security by ensuring windows and doors are locked; report any security concerns. Contribute to a positive morale in the program.Develop positive, professional relationships with coworkersAccompany youth to school and appointments as needed (driving, riding or walking)* All other duties as assignedPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basisGrasp, push, pull, objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, carts, doors, and reach overheadOperate a telephoneOperate a desktop computerAccess and produce information from a computerUnderstand written informationQualified individuals must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation.
