Veneer Specialist

PURPOSEPerform all tasks necessary to complete daily schedules with full accountability in the most efficient and effective manner within the Veneer Department. Work consists of routine tasks, processes and performing operations prescribed by drawings, work orders and procedures.Responsibilities Directly responsible for the selection and lay-out of any and all veneer, inclusive of marking and preparation including the following:Softening, punches, etc.CuttingStitching & TapingPressingDirectly responsible for the monitoring of pressed veneered panels for quality and accuracy to prints and layout sheets with labels for special instructionsDirectly responsible for set-up, clean-up, and maintenance of all veneering machinery, including glue rollersMay be required to participate in the following:Feeding and catching on the edgebander, including inspection of parts for quality and alerting operator if necessaryInserting dowels for cabinet and drawer constructionBoring of various parts on Agen for cabinet and drawer constructionMachining back dado and rabbits on shapersTag, mark, and apply labels to appropriate materialsRun the panel processing saw to include loading, unloading and tagging of cut partsWork in the capacity of General Production Associate under other departments when the schedule necessitates such actionsQualificationsPrior experience with veneer Tools and Equipment (i.e. Frizz hot press and glue roller, Kuper stitchers, Ayen boring machine, Schelling panel saw) is preferredPrior experience working with veneer (crotch wood, bubinga kawazinga pomele, starburt patterns, diamond patterns, and chevron patterns) is preferredPossesses working knowledge of woodworking and manufacturingCorrectly performs all aspects of routine work, meeting quality standards and requirementsMaintain awareness of shipping schedules and adjusts work capacity needs as requiredsFlexible in cross-training
