Role OverviewAs a Customer Service Consultant, you will be the vital link between a customer’s at-home and in-store CarMax experience, providing a simple and seamless process. You will respond to sales leads and customer inquiries, ensuring customers can buy the vehicle they want in a way that suits them. You will offer support during every step of their car buying journey. We’ve become the nation’s largest retailer of used cars due to our honesty and transparency, and those same traits will help you succeed too.
ResponsibilitiesConnect with inbound customers online and over the phone to find out what they want and need from their next car purchase.
Use knowledge of the CarMax inventory to guide customers toward vehicles that meet their needs.
Guide customers every step of the way, from online sales or appraisal to arranging finance applications and scheduling vehicle delivery.
Ensure a seamless transition from online to in-store purchasing to provide an unrivaled customer service experience.
Mentor others as your skillset expands.
Achieve sales targets while providing an iconic customer experience.
Acquire the Automotive Sales Person’s License in specific states – may require testing and travel as some states request physical presence to apply for the license.
QualificationsSales and customer service experience, in an area such as retail, is preferred.
Thrives in a fast‑paced sales environment.
Good listening skills and strong customer focus.
High level of self‑motivation to achieve performance goals.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to learn and master new technologies, strong computer skills.
Open availability for shifts that may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
Must be open to shifting schedules two times per year according to needs of the business.
Must live within 100 miles of the Customer Experience Center (CEC) location.
Hourly Rate$20.70 - $31.40
BenefitsExcept as otherwise required by state law, CarMax Associates are entitled to the following paid sick, vacation, and holiday time. Associates that are considered full‑time hourly or commission/incentive eligible earn up to 48 hours of sick time per year accrued on a per pay period basis and between 80 hours and 200 hours per year of vacation time after a 90‑day waiting period, depending on years of continuous service with the Company. For eight hours of pay for each of a total of six paid scheduled holidays per year plus one floating holiday. If such an associate works on a scheduled holiday due to business need, they are eligible for Holiday Premium Pay. Associates considered full‑time salaried are entitled to paid time away with no specified limit as needed for sick, vacation, bereavement, jury duty, holidays, floating holiday, etc., subject to manager approval.
