Pay Rate: $43.65. This will be a union positionBenefits: Employee is eligible for fully paid comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurances with the union.Position SummaryA Journeyman Plumber license in Maryland, Virginia, or DC is required for this position. Active Top Secret Clearance preferred. The Plumber is responsible for performing all plumbing trades functions necessary to assemble, install, maintain, and repair fixtures, equipment, and systems related to the facility. This position is responsible for the preventative and reactive maintenance needs of the facility as it relates to plumbing infrastructure. The plumber will be required to possess and maintain a Journeyman Plumbers License.Shift: Monday- Friday, 6:00am - 2:00pmEssential Job FunctionsAssembles, installs, and repairs pipes, fittings, and fixtures of heating, water, and drainage systems according to specifications and plumbing codes.Studies building plans and drawings to determine work aids required and sequence of installations.Inspects structure to ascertain obstructions to be avoided to prevent weakening of structure resulting from installation of pipe.Locates and marks position of pipe and pipe connections and passage holes for pipes in walls and floors, using ruler, spirit level, and plumb bob.Cuts openings in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings, using hand tools and power tools.Cuts and threads pipe using pipe cutters, cutting torch, and pipe-threading machine.Bends pipe to required angle Works from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specificationsUnloading and carrying materials to the jobsiteAssisting with the installation of pipe and fittings for copper, cast iron, and PVC/CPVC pipes, and for drain, sewer, and gas linesUtilizing hand tools and cutters to cut pipe to desired lengths and electric and hand threaders to thread pipeInstalling fittings and components above and ingroundLocates and diagnoses trouble in the plumbing systems or equipmentDocument actions, testing results, observations, final diagnosis of the situation and steps taken to resolve issues for each job or situationRepair plumbing issues by replacing or installing componentsDetermine the steps necessary to assess an electrical situation using testing devices, blueprints and mapsMaintain a safe work environment by adhering to all company guidelines and OSHA safety requirements and also through reporting violations of policies, procedures and guidelines to immediate supervisorAnswer emergency calls quickly, assess the safety of the situation upon first arriving at the scene and provide directions to individuals affectedMaintain equipment to ensure it is in good condition and can operate or be used safely; report any issues to immediate supervisorOther duties as assigned
