Workforce Development Coordinator
POSITION OVERVIEWThe Workforce Development Coordinator (Part-Time) supports the implementation of workforce development, digital literacy, and youth development programming. This role is responsible for facilitating workshops, supporting participant engagement, and assisting with program operations across multiple service areas. Working under the direction of the Workforce Development Manager, the Coordinator plays a key role in delivering high-quality, trauma-informed programming that supports career readiness, digital skills development, youth engagement, and broader community impact initiatives.This position is ideal for individuals seeking hands-on experience in workforce development, education, or community-based programming. KEY RESPONSIBILITIESProgram Facilitation & SupportFacilitate workshops related to career readiness, digital literacy, and youth development (e.g., resume building, job readiness, basic computer skills, life skills)Support implementation of program activities, lesson plans, and daily programming Assist with open lab sessions, workforce trainings, and youth workshopsProvide a supportive and engaging learning environment for participantsParticipant Engagement & Support Support participant intake, attendance tracking, and engagement Provide guidance to participants on career exploration, education pathways, and skill development Offer basic mentorship and refer participants to additional resources as neededAssist in addressing barriers to participation and engagement Program Operations & Administration Maintain accurate attendance records, case notes, and program documentationAssist with data entry and tracking of participant outcomes and program metricsSupport preparation and coordination of program materials and suppliesEnsure program spaces (e.g., classrooms, computer lab) are organized and functionalCommunity Impact & OutreachSupport ongoing community initiatives through workshops, outreach and engagement activitiesFacilitate or assist with community-based workshops, including workforce readiness, digital literacy, and life skills sessions Support delivery of trauma-informed programming for youth and community participantRepresent the organization through tabling at community events, resource fairs, and outreach opportunitiesAssist with participant recruitment through schools, partners, and community engagement effortsCross-Department Collaboration & TrainingCollaborate with staff across departments to support integrated programming and shared initiativesParticipate in staff trainings, professional development opportunities, and cross-functional meetingsSupport implementation of organization-wide initiatives and contribute to cohesive participant experience across programsEvents & Program SupportAssist with coordination and execution of events such as job fairs, orientations, workshops, and career panelsSupport employer engagement activities and participant placement efforts as neededQUALIFICATIONSHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredAssociate’s degree preferred, or currently enrolled in related field (Workforce Development, Education, Social Work, Business, etc.)0-2 years of experience in youth programing, workforce development, education, or community-based workExperience facilitating workshops or working with groups preferredStrong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skillsAbility to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environmentBilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferredBasic proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google WorkspaceEquivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered, particularly for internal candidates or those with lived/community experienceWORK ENVIRONMENTPrimarily based in-office at program sites (eg., CCS Fuerza Youth Center, schools, or community locations)Evening/weekend availability is occasionally required based on program and participant needs.Work involves frequent interaction with youth, young adults, families, employers, and community organizationsMay require occasional lifting or transport of program materials (up to 25-40 lbs).Workplace is a non-smoking, drug-free environment.Compliance with all applicable Illinois and federal employment and data protection laws.
