Position: Director of Career ServicesDepartment: Student Life & Christian MissionStatus: Full TimePosition SummaryThe Director for Career Services provides strategic leadership and vision for a comprehensive and student focused career center which includes career counseling, collaborative program development, and the cultivation of relationships to connect students and faculty with employment opportunities. The Director champions career development/readiness across the student experience from first year to graduation. The Director cultivates on campus relationships that include but are not limited to Academic Deans, Department chairs, Alumni Engagement, Advancement, and New Student Programs. The center’s functions are carried out through the lens of the Campbell Hallmarks of character, initiative, and calling.Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesCreate, collaborate, and execute a strategic vision to develop career development for undergraduate students that includes a long range plan as well as short term operational priorities and goalsDevelop and oversee a comprehensive career services program for undergraduate studentsProvide career coaching through various programs and opportunitiesOffer workshops, resume review, interview preparation, and career fairsOversee the management of Campbell University's Career ClosetDevelop and maintain employer outreach programs to increase the number and quality of employers and job and internship opportunities for students in undergraduate academic programs with a focus on the College of Arts and SciencesDevelop and nurture effective relationships with students, faculty, quality employers, and various professional networksDevelop and implement an effective assessment philosophy to support undergraduate career servicesExecute the collection and reporting first-destination outcomes and other data related to institutional effectiveness to constituents inside and outside the University.Conduct ongoing assessment of employer relation efforts and provide feedeback as to the effectiveness of such efforts.Cultivate a culture of continuous improvement by identifying and integrating best practices for career services.Expand Career Services’ online presence through the CU website, social media, etc. to support students, faculty, alumni, and employersProvide a presence at key university events to highlight the offerings for Career ServicesProvide oversight for the University’s job placement management systemServe on university committees as assignedMaintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.Uphold and abide by Campbell University policies and procedures, including, but not limited to; Title IX, HIPAA, and FERPA guidelines.Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.Education/ExperienceMaster's degree, preferably in higher education, student affairs, counseling, human resources or a closely related fieldMinimum of 4 years of progressively responsible experience in Career Services or similar experience in career development in a business environment required; 7 years of progressively responsible experience in a college or university career center desiredMinimum 2 years’ full-time experience building relationships both internal and external stakeholders to the campusExperience and proven ability to develop long-range planning and budget administrationExperience with student success, enrollment and issues of retention desiredExperience working with student employment, financial aid, and academic departments, and advancement offices desiredKnowledge, Skills, And AbilitiesExtensive knowledge of career development and student developmentStrong written and oral communication skillsDemonstrated commitment to work with diverse populationsProficient computer skills including the Microsoft Office Suite, and Symplicity or other CSM systemsAbility to use both data and judgment in decision makingExcellent interpersonal skills especially those in the areas of collaboration, conflict resolution, problem solving and decision-makingStrong organization and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and constituents and meet set deadlinesAbility to work independently as well as function effectively in a teamAbility to maintain strict confidentialityDemonstrate tact, a positive attitude, courtesy and discretion in dealing with trustees, faculty, staff, students, high- level university officials and the publicExercise independent judgment in complex and new situationsDetail-oriented and willing to work in a changing environmentThis position demands accuracy, honesty, integrity and the ability to work within the Christian mission of Campbell University
