Senior Scientist

Serán seeks a Senior Scientist to join the Analytical Sciences group to play a key role in analytical characterization and method development for novel pharmaceutical drug products. This role supports process and process development by serving as a technical leader within the laboratory, driving method development, troubleshooting analytical challenges, interpreting complex data sets, and integrating analytical strategies across programs. The Senior Scientist independently designs experimental plans, authors reports, leads cross-functional discussions, and ensures scientific rigor across analytical deliverables. This position routinely interacts with internal and external partners, represents the analytical function in project teams, and contributes strategically to development programs.Duties And ResponsibilitiesIndependently performs and interprets data for analytical techniques including HPLC, sink dissolution, Karl Fischer, XRD, and DSCIndependently develops analytical protocols, data templates, and experimental plans that align with program needs and analytical test methodsDevelops and manages experimental workplans, timelines, and priorities for assigned projectsInterprets analytical data, identifies trends, proposes hypotheses, and recommends next stepsAuthors technical reports and presentations with minimal guidance and contributes to regulatory-supporting documentation as neededLeads troubleshooting efforts on instruments and analytical workflows; contributes to laboratory instrumentation strategy, maintenance planning, and continuous lab improvementsServes as the analytical lead for cross-functional project teams, independently representing the analytical function to internal stakeholders and external partnersEnsures all work complies with laboratory best practices, safety standards, and development SOPsMay have direct reports with assumed supervisory responsibilitiesResponsibilities may increase in scope to align with company initiativesRequired Skills And AbilitiesExtensive experience with HPLC and strong hands-on laboratory skillsPreferred experience with Waters EmpowerStrong data interpretation skillsScientific curiosity and willingness to learnStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsExcellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate across technical levelsStrong organizational and time management skills with a proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlinesDemonstrated ability to work cross‑functionally in fast‑paced environmentsAbility to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriateCommunicates effectively and maintains productive relationships with coworkers, clients, and other contacts outside the companyEducation And ExperienceB.S. in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related discipline with 5+ years of relevant experience; orM.S. in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related discipline with 3+ years of relevant experience; orPh.D. in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or related disciplineGMP experience not requiredPhysical RequirementsProlonged periods of sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computerMust be able to lift up to 25 pounds occasionallyMotor skills required for basic laboratory operations (pouring liquids, using utensils to transfer powders, visual assessments)Adheres to consistent and predictable in-person attendanceVisit https://www.seranbio.com/careers to learn more about company culture and the community of Bend, Oregon.Applicants must be authorized to work for an employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.Benefits Summary:Serán employees accrue over four weeks of paid time off annually.
