Senior Plant Mechanical Estimator
Job Roles And ResponsibilitiesPrepare detailed mechanical and process utility cost estimates for central utility plants and process systemsDevelop estimates from conceptual design through complete construction documentsPerform quantity takeoffs from drawings, P&IDs, specifications, and equipment schedulesBuild cost models for plant equipment, piping systems, and controlsCreate assemblies and system-level pricing for complex utility systemsCoordinate subcontractor and vendor bid solicitation, analysis, and scope reviewsIdentify scope gaps, overlaps, and project risk areasSupport subcontractor buyout and final vendor selectionDevelop and maintain project budgets, GMPs, contingencies, and cost plansTrack estimate-to-budget alignment and perform cost impact analysisCollaborate with engineers, facility owners, and project teams during design reviewsLead value engineering and cost reduction strategiesIdentify constructability, schedule, and cost risks and develop mitigation strategiesPrepare estimate narratives, bid comparisons, and executive presentationsMaintain estimating databases and historical cost recordsMentor estimators, junior estimators, and interns as neededQualifications And CertificationsBachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field and/or equivalent combination of 15+ years of technical training and construction experienceExperience in the local construction marketStrong knowledge of regional construction costs and pricingKnowledge of construction contracts requiredStrong organizational, supervisory, decision-making, and problem-solving skillsExperience in construction estimating and related functions preferredKnowledge of commissioning and start-up requirementsStrong time management and prioritization skillsHigh attention to detail and ability to manage multiple prioritiesAdvanced management or technical training preferredStrong knowledge of HVAC, hydronic systems, steam, chilled water, condenser water plants, process piping, and utility systemsExperience estimating design-build and GMP projectsProficiency with estimating and takeoff software such as Sage, OST, Bluebeam, and ExcelAbility to read and interpret P&IDs, one-lines, mechanical/electrical plans, specifications, and equipment schedulesAbility to lead estimating efforts on applicable projectsBenefitsMedical InsuranceDental InsuranceVision Insurance401(k) Retirement Plan with Company ContributionPaid Time OffPaid VacationPaid Sick LeavePaid HolidaysEmployer Paid Life InsuranceDisability InsuranceAdditional Voluntary Benefits
