Operations Supervisor
OverviewThe Operations Supervisor will oversee the production team, ensuring that manufacturing processes are safe, efficient, cost-effective, and meet all quality standards. This role requires strong leadership, a commitment to safety, and a focus on continuous improvement to meet production targets and business goals. The supervisor will be responsible for leading a team of production operators, and coordinating with quality assurance and other support positions.Key ResponsibilitiesProduction Operations: Plan, direct, and coordinate the manufacturing operation, including production scheduling, associated production paperwork, and production tracking, to ensure maximum productivity and output.Safety and Compliance: Train and enforce strict adherence to safety protocols, regulatory requirements (OSHA, EPA, etc.), and company policies to maintain a safe and compliant working environment.Quality Control: Collaborate with the Quality Assurance to implement and manage quality control systems, ensuring all products meet required specifications and standards.Team Leadership and Development: Manage, mentor, and train production team, fostering a positive work environment, conducting performance reviews, and developing workforce.Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve line efficiency and implement lean manufacturing principles (e.g., 5S, Six Sigma) to reduce waste, and lower costs.Equipment and Maintenance: Review and communicate equipment related issues and assist in troubleshooting. See that any scheduled maintenance during the shift is completed.Required QualificationsProven experience as a Production Supervisor or in a similar leadership role within a manufacturing environment, preferably in a food environment.Knowledge of production best practices, quality control, and health and safety standards.Experience with continuous improvement and lean manufacturing methodologies.Strong understanding of budgeting and financial metrics in a manufacturing context.Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and manage teams.Proficiency with basic computer software.Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred, but not requiredMinimum of 3-5 years of experience in manufacturing, with at least 1-2 years as a supervisor/lead.
